A little margin on the tires sure doesn’t hurt but keep in mind that the rest of the #2 gear (namely the 1” spindles/hubs/bearings) have a 2000lb weight capacity. Tires rated in the 1100-1500lb range should be fine- most 12x5.30 should do it.
Not sure what lug pattern has to do with tire choice... but plenty of 4-lug wheel options in 12” and 13”. The 13” tires are VERY tight on original wrap fenders prior to ‘72-73, even with new springs- so I recommend sticking with 12” to prevent rubbing. And obviously don’t overload the trailer as capacity is marginal. |

What would be wrong with these- link
Back in '11 TRbenj had found some tires at Discount Tire Direct they were 145R12 with a load rating of 1520 each and were 52.00 each. A couple of us bought them and soon they were sold out never to return. Mine have been trouble free for over 6K miles. I had just repainted my original wheels - |

I have 5.30-12s on mine, I believe that was the original size. Four lug wheels make it hard to find tire options.

I'm looking to replace wheels and tires on my trailer for my 72 mustang as I have mismatched wheels/tire sizes right now. The one original wheel has a 155R12 car tire and the other one is a 5.30-12 trailer tire that just looks to small (this wheel/tire is probably an inch narrower than the original). Is there a go to wheel and tire you guys are putting on these trailers? Any help is appreciated.
