900 hours is only a number. If the Python has good compression and leak down results, you can make it last at least a few thousand hours. Someday they all wear out and you can always rebuild or replace. Of course just to be funny She blowed up real good |

Anyone think that the python would be capable of 1500-2000 with excellent maintenance?

If it has good compression, oil pressure, & doesn't make any ticking noises, go for it!

Hey guys. I am looking at a mint 99 pro air nautique with the python engine. The motor has 900 hours and has been stored inside a heated basement during the southern winters. It is very nice. The owner is retired and is wanting to buy a larger boat. I’ve been reading up on the python and of course I get mixed reviews depending on whether you are an A or B type personality. I’m comfortable with the fuel consumption as it will be used as a wakeboard/tube pulling boat for my family of 5. I won’t be doing 48mph ski passes for 8 hours. We also do A lot of Lounging while on the water. My biggest concern since the boat looks like new is the hours. I read somewhere on CCF that 1000 hours was getting close to rebuild time. I just didn’t agree with this so I thought I’d ask. I had a 2004 Silverado with a 5.3 and the hour meter on it was almost 9000 hours. In a little over 14 years. This boat is pretty quiet. I think the owner installed the fresh air system. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks a lot.
