Brian, had a quick look around and I think 1980 was the first year for engine cradle.. some have fitted them into earlier year boats, as you can see it also gives support for the pylon instead of a thick timber member across the stringers.
Just make a note of the engine mounts position on the stringers from the back of the hull as this may change by engine type, I had a Chevy 350. Below a picture of a engine cradle. ![]() |

Hello everyone. I’ve recently purchased a 1979 SN. I’m having the stringers replaced by company that was recommended by our marina. Would you guys mind answering the following...
1. Were the stringers mass produced or are they specific to each hull? 2. 1979UK emailed his CAD files from his 78 SN stringer job from years ago. He mentioned the hull dims were correct but possibly not correct for the 79 engine mounts. Can anyone clarify? I’ll get pictures up shortly. I believe a lot of you know this boat. My digging on this site indicates this boat once belonged to jmurph or John Murphy. |
