fresh water flush after strainer

I'd leave the flush as is and then drain for winterizing like the manual states.

I think the 2 heaters are overkill. It takes several days of hard freeze temps to get to the engine. We are warming up towards the weekend.

My concern is RV is not meant to be diluted so unless you drain first, there's a good chance the RV will not do the job. The only way to tell how much protection there is is to use a refractometer after the RV is circulated multiple times through the engine. IE: if you use a -50 RV, after its mixed you may end up with a -25?You may be better off with just draining. It was the norm for many years and many still drain only. It's not clear, are you draining afterwards?

BTW, winterizing now? You must have been out enjoying some "indian summer"

For engine flushing purposes, I don't feel it makes much difference if the connection is before of after the strainer. Ether way, the engine will get flushed.

Now, I do have one concern when you use it for winterizing. You said:

Are you completely draining all water before sucking the RV?

BTW, is the RV suck through method the one recommended in your engine manual?

those smarter then me, i have a question.

although it doesn't probably matter the boat is a 2014 g21.

the boat came with factory installed fresh water flush system which was designed for flushing engine after use, i guess in salt water environment.

i use it twice a year. at end of season to suck in rv antifreeze and beginning of season to test boat before going to launch

i guess you can say if it aint broke dont fix it.

the fitting is after the strainer. in other words it goes seacock, strainer, fitting, then to raw water pump.

so usually when i winterize i suck in rv antifreeze and then empty strainer of raw water.

but it being cold as hell in minnesota i had to deal with winterizing this week...

but i got too much time on my hands and was wondering why would i not move the fitting to the other side of the strainer. so it would go seacock fitting strainer. then i would suck rv thru the strainer.

is there a downside? why did they put it where they did from the factory?
