Thank You Dreaming and Orlando. I will get a look at the maint records, and hope to see what killed to original motor and overall condition - hopefully this weekend.

Appreciate the insight from you both. Cheers, Ryan

I wouldnt think much of an Excalibur with ~1000 hours. I would have to look at the boat with the jasper a little harder. Partly because I’d have to question overall care and condition the boat was in. I can almost assure you an original Excalibur sucking on a bullet with 380 hours is because of somebody’s neglect. I would also inspect the quality of the install.

With all that negativity being said I have a boat that had a rebuilt put in at 383 hours.

I think you're experience with Jasper is likely to be the same as a used engine in any one of the other boats.   If the oil pressure is good, and compression is good, those are the main external indicators of a healthy engine.   At 380 hours, I am guessing there was a freeze protection issue with the boat at some time. I would have my eyes open for other things that could be indicators of poor maintenance though. (shower coils, steering cable, hull blisters, roached vinyl etc.   None of these are a deal breaker, but will affect the price, especially if you have someone else do the replacement work.

Hello,

I'm looking at a few SV211's for sale. A couple have the original Excalibur 330 HP with 800-1200 hours.

One has a new (37 hour) Jasper 350 block with all new accessories that is the Excalibur replacement. (About 380 total hours on the boat).

I'd like to hear any wisdom from the forum about Jasper engines?

Would you prefer a higher hour PCM Excalibur, and a new Jasper equivalent?

What impact would this have on resale value?

Appreciate any advice / experience. Thanks, Ryan
