Morse controls and dash shift/foot throttle were available simultaneously. Have seen some 69’s with the latter. All 66-68 boats got that dash, no question there. 2296 would be an early to mid 68 boat.

Rear chrome vent style and presence of humps on the rear of the motorbox were some of the changes that occurred late 67/early 68.

My '68 is M2296. Same dash as this boat. Mine has a Morse shifter but I'm not sure what was original.

I’d like to see more hardware but like Gary said the serial number is telling also. Could be an early 68 with the stepped pylon, but could easily be a 67 also.

My knee jerk reaction was that is similar to our 66/67 mustang we had when I was a kid (new) except for the split windshield. Dash is exact, Dash shift, same gauges, same "ODI" blank. Then I noticed black side walls and black piping and with its CT location made me think it might be the same boat I went and looked at out in Chatham MA, for bakchose many years ago. If its the same boat, it had seen a lot of salt water use. Chrome was pretty pitted, and the bottom almost looked barnacle affected. If it is the same boat, that might explain why the bottom was painted.

Mark,
It's pre HIN's so if it's still there, the serial number will be on an aluminum tag fastened to the stringer next to the engine. It will be M****

You need to see the front deck and the vents on rear deck to narrow it down - get the serial number and trbenj will be able to get it pretty close. A 289 does not make it a 68 but the stepped pylon says 68 or older

I still have severe sellers remorse letting that one go....
I know where it's at so maybe I'll get it back again some day!

Looks exactly like a '68 Mustang I refurbished a few years ago. 289 Interceptor 2bbl.
Looks like they painted the bottom with a colored bottom paint, looks thin so it will, hopefully come off easy. Gauge cluster look exactly like mine with the Ongaro side swing tach! Really cool I hope it's in working order. Mine was not and I had to replace it with a vintage old tach.
Nice boat like that yellow color!
Here's what mine looked like.

Yeah, I'm with ya brainard, just didn't see that shift-lever in the brochure pics. Could be a fun project...

Mark,
Looks like a 68 or very close. The Yucatan Yellow was a very popular color and most likely the hull is the same but the hull was painted. The shift on the dash simply means the throttle is a foot pedal.

So, it's advertised as a '68 with the 289 motor. All yellow, inside and out, but looks like maybe paint over the gel on the hull.

Trying to match up the dash pic I was able to get with pics from the '68 brochure pics.
F-R-N lever on the right I can't seem to find in the brochure. Definitely not an SS by the absence of center console and different dash layout.

Ideas?

Thanks gang,

Mark
