In 1968 the Cuda changed from having the gauges set individually in the dash to a panel that contained all the gauges. Your boat has the cut out for the panel. This picture is of an early 1968 which was still using the the 1967 gauge layout. This is also the dash layout that is shown in the 1968 brochure. There is no 1969 brochure. It would make sense that if your boat is a 1969 Barracuda SS and has the cut out for the panel, that it would have a console like Gary's with no cut outs for gauges in it.
This is a photo of an unmolested early 1968 Cuda. The only thing not original is that it has seats that are out of a newer boat. ![]() |

Mike, That isn't the correct CC pylon. Was it installed in the SS? In 69, a factory pylon most likely would have been steel heavier and painted. Here's Gary's

Most likely you will never know. Correct Craft at those times were very accommodating maybe who ever purchased it didn't want gauges in the console. Have you asked the factory to pull the build sheet? Might have something in it.
69 Mustang SS's did not have gauges in the console but 68's did. Here is my dash and the top of the pylon, the one you have is not a Correct Craft pylon. The console was missing on mine but I found out that a Cuda console other than being a bit taller was the same. I was able to cut it down to fit- Final fit |

Its not that they did anything strange it was a styling change done for the 69 models. Mustang SS did sort of the same they had their dashes done differently and did not share that dash with the other Mustangs

![]() ![]() She is kinda a basket case. I got her totally stripped, but was given all the parts. I’ve done many searches and have found a few pictures. This boat is kinda unique I’m told. As you can see there is no hole for the throttle on the side. Which makes sense since its an SS, but the dash is cut out in the shape of the trapezoid for the gauges. I was told they did some strange things in 69. The stinger plate is B.S.S. 2072

You can also do general "google" search and find lots like this picture:
![]() Using a internet search works better at times than the CCfan site search.

Anyone have any pictures of a 69 Barracuda SS? I'm about to restore one and they would really help.
