Ahhh...ok. Well, I'm picking up the boat in the next week or so. I was going to change hubs, but I think I'll pull them off, inspect, replace what is needed, if anything, and put back. Easy enough to drill or tap for either a press or threaded Zerk, at that time.

Yeah, the Zerz is coming off with the gun. I'll get the next size up Zerk drive-in. That should do it. [/QUOTE]
The next size up requires drilling.

Drive in or as mentioned "press in" Zerk fitting will pop out. Threaded is certainly a better option but I'd say disassembly to keep metal drillings and tappings out of the grease is best. Using the old "grease on the tap" trick is too risky. Mark, Try a new drive in Zerk.

I can't decide whether you're saying that the grease fitting pops out of it's threads or something else. If that's the case a grease fitting with bigger threads seems workable.

How about installing a set of Bearing Buddy wheel bearing protectors? Some are nay-sayers on Bearing Buddy, but they've never let me down yet.

The small-ish fittings on my hubs will pop out when removing the press-on style of grease gun. Ok to over size the fitting?
