Here's a link to one that's not a DUI but it is an HEI for a 351W with the reverse rotation gear Wink

Never dealt with the place, they posted here on CCF once, a few questions were asked and ......they never got back with any kind of answers.

It says they have one in stock.

Pertronix doesn't sell a bolt in Reverse Rotation distributor for a 351W, just a normal rotation with the wrong gear.

AAA marine in the same link as above sells a gear that could be used with a Pertronix, you'd have to do the swap yourself.

Here's a link to a recent (2020) thread and there's a link in that thread too

Since then they've started selling the RR version.

Great info and thanks.  Huge problem now is that everyone that sells the DUI is sold out.  4-6 week wait for one.  Looking that the Pertronix ones now.   But those are hard to find also.  No fun trying to find out.  Dam.

A new distributor and a carb re-build and you should be good-to-go.

Hello all, and thanks for the information. About 3 years ago the boat ran rough. Took it to a mechanic and he said a spring was broken in the distributor. Prior to that a mechanic replaced my carburetor back three times when it was really a distributor timing issue. Now the screws won't keep the cap tight. Put a new cap and rotor and it won't start. Put the old cap and rotor on runs bad. Needs a new cap and rotor but I've had so many problems with this distributor I'm thinking replacing all the same time. Just be done with it

As Pete mentioned above, the DUI (Davis Unified Ignition) is a very nice option.  You can check them out on their website:  https://performancedistributors.com/product/marine-dui-distributors/

It is likely that your engine is a reverse-rotation (RR) configuration.  One way to double-check is to look at the metal identification plate from PCM.  Another way is to observe the rotation from the REAR of the boat, looking forward.  A "standard" or left-hand rotation will turn counter-clockwise when looking from the rear.  If your engine is a RR or right-hand rotation, it will turn clockwise when looking from the rear.

Assuming a RR engine, the D.U.I. distributor part number for a 351W small-block Ford in reverse-rotation is: M35820RRRD.  The last 2 letters indicate the color of the distributor cap.  I.e. RD=Red; BL=Blue; BK= Black, etc.  Go with the red cap as red makes the boat faster.
