This came up on PN a while ago, and since I was right in the middle of the switch myself, could provide some info. (again, courtesy of Zach's help/input)  This information is related to updating a cable on a 96, which had the old helm, not compatable (bolt hole location) with the new cable.  Not sure what the OP is dealing with, but it sounds like this situation.

From my PN post:
If there are any issues getting the 2205 cable, here is a different route to go. Teleflex is now Seastar. The Seastar cable, compatible with your helm was SSC 12419 or SSC 12420 (the 19 or 20 being the length) That cable is now obsolete and NLA from seastar (Nautique parts may still have the teleflex version (2205) around and hence its availability) The new replacement part is SSC 15419 or 15420. This cable however has the new bolt pattern. You would have to update the helm as well. The 2205 cable is $199. The SSC154xx cable is $149 and the new helm is $77 so for $30 more you get the updated system. The 154 cable is reportedly much better performancewise than the 124xx/2205 cable. I am in the middle of this myself right now and going with the new set up. Both parts available from MarinePartsSource. The helm is part SH91610P.

“So, how was your weekend?”
“Well, let me see…sun burn, stiff neck, screwed up back, assorted aches and pains….yup, my weekend was great, thanks for asking.”

Zach had set me up with what I needed when he was with N3. I have the tilt wheel so it was just changing out the lower portion of the helm and installing the cable. No drilling or any other modifications were needed. If you don’t have the tilt feature don’t know what’s needed.

I think he has the old skinny rack and is installing the new wider rack version. (97 Sport Nautique}

How about some part numbers Jerry?

Any videos or comments on installing a new cable and backmount rack? Looks like a Mounting Template and new holes will be required in the fiberglass dash.
Thx
