I like the drain petcocks for the engine block and raw water J-bend.  I agree with many that have voice opinions here that a "plug" at the end of the exhaust manifold/riser is a good way to go so that one can really flush out the gunk that can collect there.

In the PCM / CC owners manual, it calls for flushing out of the exhaust manifold/riser with a garden hose on the front end and having the flush water exit the at the rear.

I wouldn’t use those… can’t probe anything. Asking for problems.

I purchased a set of drains from SkiDim several years ago. One for each exhaust manifold, one for each side of the engine block, and one for the U under the thermostat. They have worked well.

Question about this, if your installing drains on the rear of the exhaust manifolds,

I noticed quite a large build up of silt on the 79 behind those 1/2 drive plugs, granted maybe from lack of service being an orlando boat.
How about routing the cooling hoses to the rear of the manifolds ?
My thought is it will always flush silt out and pop the hose off for winterization, like to know if thats an option good or bad.

Mark:

On my 2 previouis boats with the 5.8 Small Block Ford, I used these:

I purchased them from McMaster-Carr:
https://www.mcmaster.com/products/petcocks/drainage-valves-5/

I had one for each side of the block and one for the U-Bend (J-Bend) in the raw water system.  I also replaced the cast iron plugs with brass plugs at the ends of the exhaust manifolds/risers.

For those that have done it, can I see a pic of your setup? Thanks, Mark
