Jtonor1, I'm certainly not referring to guys like you with my comments. Guys like you still have respect for what they're having to pay for and are learning that if you want something and work hard enough, you can get whatever you want. You appreciate it and therfore want to learn how to take care of it. You're proud of what you have. That's why we're all here on this forum. Even the guys that BKH mentioned are still paying for their own rides even if it's totally a financial nightmare in that particular case. The guys I'm referring to are the ones that get these awesome gifts given to them or they somehow ran into a boat load of money and go by the most expensive brand new CC just because they can. They don't appreciate them, treat them like s**t and could care less about the maintenance, upkeep, or even the value of them. They don't have respect for it and even more so, they don't have respect for your boat and probably belittle you because theirs is better or faster or newer than yours. They don't have respect for the rules of the water and they're the ones that give boaters (particularly, skiing boaters) a bad name. They don't necessarily have to be young and I certainly am not saying that all people in these circumstances turn out the way that I'm describing. In fact, it's probably a very small minority but they still exist and I'm sure that every one of us here has witnessed this type of person at some point in time or another. |

Quinner, don't think it was a function thing. I think it was a money thing. Oversize bimini he didn't want to lose (it is routinely in the 100s here during the summer), low cost one size fits all tower (I think it is a Joystick). I'd bet he just stuck it where it would fit, and where he wouldn't lose the bim. BKH

OK, so that boat looks totally rediculous but one thing I have noticed with many non-factory inboard towers is the towpoint falls well behind the pylon, it appears to be either right above or slightly in front of the pylon on the above boat, could that possibly be a good thing from a function/pull standpoint?

You're a good man Lou. IMHO, cash is always the best way for a luxury item like a boat. But, if your going to finance one, at least make sure you have enough into it that you're not upside down on the loan for years. BKH

Hey, I,m 18 and I bought my first correct craft at the end of last year. I paid cash, but then again it was not a 50K boat. Give the youger generation a break. Oh and that must be a west coast redneck.

Hey now - That's a California sticker, and that waterway is my backyard. Don't be thinking the South has an exclusive on Rednecks. BTW - I'm not so sure that all those "snot-nosed" brats are pimpin in mom and dad's ride. Financing is the issue. They write 20 year loans on these boats. Even an 18 year old kid can be drivin a Hummer and towing a 60K boat as long as he makes the payments. Makes no financial sense, but it has become the way of this country. BKH |

I know that a lot of guys here have to work really hard to enjoy this sport and keep their boats looking and running the way that they were intended. It's more about being disrespectful than jealous. Just 'aint right.

It looks like thier Ba$$ fishing next to the weeds, maybe they use the tower for trolling, its a dual purpose boat.... is that a Florida or Louisianna sticker up front?

I hear you ........... The superior attitude and lack of respect they show with their punk a$$ stares, like their sh*t don't stink really bothers me sometimes. Mostly a bunch of posers trying to look cool ( which they do ). Funny thing is most of them can't ski, just wakeboard

I don't know what pisses me off more. Seeing s**t like this or seeing guys that have $60K two year old boats that look like they've been used for a county fair port-a-potty. The worst thing is that those boats are being used by 18 YR. old snot nosed brats that don't have a f*****g clue about the value of a boat or a dollar that had it given to them by Mommy and Daddy! Sorry, got carried away there. Absolutely no disrespect to anyone that young in general if there are those of you out there reading this. You know who you are and what I'm talking about!

I saw this on Craigslist and just had to laugh.... that has got to be one of the best ways to ruin the look of a perfectly good ski boat. |
