Thanks guys. While I haven't found a seal yet I probably posted to soon. I haven't put my own eyes on the crank yet, but was just talked to the actual engine a$$embly guy who hasn't seen it yet either, but advised that he couldn't find one. He suggested the rope seal as well, Gary. I'll post back soon as I've still got several sources I've yet to consult.

Reid-I ended up going with a rope seal for my engine, the old girl did not like those new fancy ones no matter how many I tried.I called all the old parts stores in the area and found one.Now all those guys are gone, replaced by the auto parts box stores. The good thing about the rope,it don't care which way the crank turns. You might try Hemmings to find a supplier if you haven't already. Good luck,Gary

Does the crank have wick lines? Is it a two piece seal?

Calling all old dudes and vintage motor heads:
We finally pulled the tired and never rebuilt 390 Interceptor from our 63 Cla$$ic. No place that the machine shop or myself have looked or called can find a part number for a rev rot rear seal. Futhermore, I can't even be sure yet or verify that a RR piece is required in this case. We'll continue looking tomorrow, but if anyone finds anything or can share some needed tech info to save us some effort, please forward it on. A big place up in Green Bay that carries vintage stuff, and referred by Marysville Marine, said we may need to go with a rope seal. Thanks in advance. |
