Thanks for the response . I should have stated that I am currently running a 140 thermostat in fresh water . Will the engine perform and start better with the hotter 160 thermostat or is it not worth worrying about?

I've got the 140 t-stat in mine. Expensive thermostats, around $50 I think.

Should I be running a 160 thermostat in my LM318 210HP (raw water cooled) when in fresh water ? What are you running, ReidP,Jim in Houston, 79 Nautique? Thanks,JimB.
