the best way is...run the boat to op temp, turn boat off and quickly check, even have someone turn boat off for you with cover lifted. then the next morning when its cooled down, pull the stick and mark it. this will be your cold oil check. you know it will be good because you found the proper level the night before

I thought it was better to check the fluid in the water. I have the question is it like a car, do you check it with the engine running?

Thanks Eric.
I normally drain mine from the drain plug on the bottom, let it sit til no more drips. When i add anywhere near 2 qts it is always over full. The dipstick checking method always seems unreliable. Does 1.75 qts sound about right because all the lines do not drain completly? Better to error on the over or under side? How important is it to have the exact correct amount? Best method to check? Again, this is the PCM 1.23:1. Darrel |

no, the bronze are pretty resilant, the type F is used with the fiber...or high graphite plates. there really isnt to much you can do with the bronze plates. a bronze plate is more durable than fibers, if slipped which in a ski boat is not a big concern because of prop size and HP.
fiber plates are more coeffiecient. imagine putting your hands together like your praying and with bronze plates it would be like having hand cream in between your hands and with the same force you can spin your hands easy. with paper plates it would be like having sandpaper between your hands. with the same force applied in both situations which pair of hands will break free first? |
