Cast iron head 80 ft. lbs. torque in 3 progressive steps. I did 30,60 & 80 follow the torque sequence. rocker arms (hyd.lifters)spin the push rod with your fingers and tighten the nut until there is a heavy drag then 3/4 to 1 extra turn is OK just do them all the same.Make sure the valve is closed (lifter is on the base circle of the cam) I rotate the engine until the intake valve is closed then set the intake & exhaust of the same cylinder at the same time. Be sure the push rod is seated in the lifter correctly.

All the parts arrived to refit head yesterday and I got it all cleaned up last night. Want to make a start tonight.

I need to know the torque for the head bolts as I have two conflicting manuals. The engine is a mercruiser bluewater 5.7.

Same goes for valve lash - one says tighten to remove lash then 3/4 of a turn the other says 1 complete turn - which is right?

Thanks Tom
