Thanks, It was not a alignment issue, it was a submerged in salt water issue that pitted the gears (and the transmission)I have a very low hour trans that had a reduction on it that I am using for parts, and I have a lathe so I could do that as well as I am as you say : on a budget! I'll call you asap
thanks, Todd

now you know why they get close to 1100 smackers for them, You may be a casualty of some bad alignment,
the oil slinger does need to be there, its function is to capture the oil and as rpms increase the oil creates pressure and forces it to lube the planetaries. those only spin in reverse. is it a bushing case or seal ring case?
Ive tried everything to get it off, if your on a budget you can die grind the area where the pins would be to get them out and tack them into place, you may want to call me to discuss further, you can get that baffle new from my supplier, but you have to roll it on a lathe to attach.... better yet call me 330-273-8291   eric

I have dissassembled my trans for rebuild, the pinion gears, or planet gearsets, are bad. I have a good used cage with the planet gear assembly but it's out of a trans with a reduction,it's a longer output shaft, so I need to swap "cages" On both cages there is a stamped metal "oil slinger" looking piece that is formed over the rear that also holds the gear retainer pins. The service manual only shows the entire assembly. Can this stamped piece be purchased alone? I'll try to get a pic of it later....
