Short of lightening the boat as suggested above I don't think you'll significantly improve the wake for slalom.
A 206 with tower and ballast system would be a much better cross over boat. I take a slalom lesson a few times a year and the school pull their slalom lessons with a 206. The wake is good. I've heard it has a decent wake for wakeboarding when it's weighted a bit. |

I had a 99' Air and currently have a 05' 206 with tower, I believe both the 99' and 02' have the same TSC1 hull.
IMO the wake is substantially smaller on the 206 w/TSC2 hull but also has a somewhat hard table as you shorten the line, at 15 off or Barefoot line length the table is pretty soft. The only pics I have are the wake at footin speeds and length but it may give you some idea. |

From your other posts, I believe you are a hard core slalom skier, running the course frequently. I'm afraid you will find the 206 to be a better boat for running the course.
However, like anything else, it's what you get used to. At 22 and 28 off, the good skiers (and I don't claim to be one of them)get it on edge and plow right through it. Make sure tanks are completely empty. Make sure you don't have a lot of heavy gear stored in the back trunk. You might also consider only using 1/2 a tank of gas when you are running the slalom course. You might also talk to the guys at Acme. I know they are recommending a three blade these days for the direct drive boats. Not sure what impact this might have on the rooster. BKH |

I've got a 2002 Air Nautique and the rooster tail is huge at 34 MPH at 22 and 28 off. Is there any way to reduce the size of the rooster tail? I've got a 4 blade prop installed. Ballast tanks are empty.
Is the SN 206 with a tower the better way to go in order to have a flat wake and still be able to wakeboard? |
