Thread on prop pullin and installing

This should do it but I totally disagree with the person who is greasing the taper. DO NOT GREASE. It is the taper that transmits the HP and torque from the shaft to the prop. If the taper is fit properly (you should check it) you wouldn't even need the key.

Pete, is the gortex pretty maintenance-free? Do you still have to allow the slow leak to lubricate the shaft?

I talked to the guys at skidim about both systems and they recommended the PSS for an older boat with an original shaft. They claim that the OJ seals will wear our fast on a shaft that has had a packing system run on it for any length of time. If you ave a new shaft there is nothing to worry about. It makes since so I bought the PSS and will be installing it in a week or two. I will post results.

Just converted to the OJ. Is was an easy install. Works very well. Just as good as the PSS I would suppose and a bit cheaper.

They are both pretty much the same but I would simply install the good teflon Gore-tex packing and be done with it. It's a lot cheaper.
