Welcome and congratulations. Start looking on Ebay for the Airguide Speedo parts, they are getting harder and harder to find. I did the same thing to a 66 Barracuda and had a ball until my son made the college waterski team and we needed a better boat. There is nothing that sounds better than one of the older boats starting up on the dock in the early morning.

Hello all.
I just joined the site and I just bought a 1985 Ski Nautique 2001. This site seems to be an excellent source of information and I'm glad I found it. Thanks!

The boat is in good shape but needs some cosmetic work. The motor runs strong and has a lot of power! (351 Commander, 1:1 Velvet Drive rebuild four months ago.) We took it out last weekend (all weekend) and my 10 yr old step-daughters (twins) had a blast on an inflatable pull toy. It's been 15 yrs and 40 pounds ago since I was last up on water skies, but it was like riding a bike--you never forget! We will probably be able to ski here in Texas until Nov. Then I plan to get started on some restoration work:
*buff out the gelcoat
*repaint or apply new side graphics
*repair minor cracks in gelcoat/fiberglass
*repair/reupholster "love seat"
*reupholster the sides (tow rope damage)
*repair Airglides/fuel gauge/switches/lights
*install blowers, depth gauge, better bilge pump
I'm going to enjoy restoring the boat as much as skiing as driving as pulling the girls as pulling my wife as enjoying a cocktail in the "love seat" with my wife.
I'll try to take and post some photos next weekend.
