Does anybody know 69mustang? It looks like he hasn't been on the site for a couple of years. I'll be in DC all next week, with lots and lots of down time. I was hoping to maybe get "the tour" that he had offered in this post.

Awesome pics! That's so cool that you get to ski right next to all those monuments, you couldn't ask for a better backdrop!

Travis - She is single and living almost as far away from Seattle as one can be. She is currently in CT but spends a lot of time running up and down the East Coast delivering boats.

Hollywood (aka Kevin) - Thank you, it is a new camera so I'm a little trigger-happy! Come visit, I could use some driving, skiing and boarding lessons.

Ryan - Also thanks to you. It is fun for me to share the good side of DC. Come visit!

John - It is only a matter of time before you and Patti are out on the water with us! I have no worries about the trans, mechanical things break all the time and Eric will patch her up and make her better than new.

Chuck - Sorry I missed you guys. Next time you are going to be here, let me know - I'll take you on the tour.

Thanks to everyone who has viewed and commented on this post. For me, it has been a lot of fun sharing these photos. Next weekend, I'll take a cruise up the Washington Channel and the Anacostia River (Fort McNair, Hains Point, The Navy Yard and the new National's Stadium). If anyone would like to see some of the more land-oriented monuments let me know.

Mike

The pictures and Virtual tour are Great... I havent been the that part of the country yet, but am still working on that one. Anytime you guys are out in the Great Northwest, not that you would want to regarding the rain... LOL... Give me a hollar, and if I am home we can get something lined up for a cruise of the area.

Mike, How married is Sabrinas Sister? Sounds like a good catch...

One of the homes owned by the guy I work for – He paid $10 million for it 10 years ago (it is just north of the stairs from the movie “The Exorcist”). Also, the stone foundation is from the original bridge between Arlington, VA and Georgetown. The original bridge had been made of wood and was burned during the War of 1812 or the Civil War, I can’t remember:

Hey Mike...visited your trailer today when I took the '80 back to her resting place. Looked lonely. So I parked the '80 close.

John - Can't wait!

Travis - Yes, Sabrina has a sister. She has her 100 ton Captain's license (studying for her 200 ton); is getting her Master's in wooden boat restoration; teaches city kids how to sail; and can rebuild any marine engine you throw at her. She is a hot sh*t!

Oh, and she is pretty and modest as well. She once built a light house - no joke.

Mike; Same with mrs jbear. She can load or back the trailer, even on a ramp full of fishermen. And she is a better driver than any of the guys execpt my brother and a guy named Dale Good. We are lucky indeeb to have women like these. Guess I'll need to meet Sabrina too.

Can't wait to visit DC.

Thanks Travis, Todd and Ryan,

Going out tomorrow - I'll try to get some more "virtual tour" (great term, btw!) shots. There is so much history here and so many icons of this great country of ours.

Brian,

I usually put in at Gravelly Point (north side of Reagan National Airport), but I have put in at Piscataway Park (green can #69) which is right across the river from Mt Vernon, and you. I understand turning around in Old Town - that mile long no wake zone going north from the Wilson Bridge can be a drag. We also used to ski in the cove on the east side of the river just south of the Wilson where they are building the National Harbor - used to be a great "secret spot" that was hiding in plain sight.

I have skied Pohick years ago, it is a great spot. I'll try to convince Sabrina that a break in the routine might be a good idea. For what it is worth she can unload, load and drive the boat as well as I can.

Three Sister's is only about 45 min from the Wilson. Once you clear the north end of the Old Town no wake zone, you literally aim the nose of the boat at the US Capitol Dome (how cool is that?) until you get to Hains Point, bear a slight left and you are in my old neighborhood!

Let's get together - either down your way or up my way. We are so close, it seems a shame not to.

Anyway, more pics coming tomorrow...

Mike

John,

The Tomb, and watching those who guard it, is an awesome sight. As you know, Rolling Thunder on Memorial Day is equally impressive. The Vietnam memorial has the greatest impact when viewed just after sunset. It brings up powerful feelings.

Please do come visit and take all the time you would like to see everything! I have a friend who works at The White House who can arrange the "special" tour and another friend who manages a VIP club at the Verizon Center (where the Wizards and Capitals play).

I am fortunate to live here, and I am more fortunate to have these friends. They take care of me when I have guests in town.

Mike
