Wow,

Thanks for all the feedback!

I've thought about the size issues with this boat. I have a great wake at 15mph and I think with a little bit of weight I can get the same at 18/19mph. That's all I expect to do.

It is nice to know that I'm not going to butcher a historical boat.

My $.02. I don't think an 83 Mustang is a common boat. However, I also don't think it is a collectible in the sense that folks are out trying to find that boat. I say either way. Just do what makes you happy with the boat. BKH

Just my $0.02:
I had the same aspirations when I bought my 78 SkiTique. But the more I read here, and the more I looked at ski boats from that era (CCs and MasterCrafts) that had towers, the sillier they looked to me.

Look, it is your boat - do what makes you happy. Just keep in mind the boats of our vintage were designed to pull skiers. Adding weight and components that push the structural limits are certainly possible, but just because you can do it, does that mean you should?

Is your boat collectible? I have no idea. I consider mine collectible because it is the only one I have seen in person in over 20 years of boating, but maybe it is not. However, 20 years from now when I give it to a grandchild, in as close to original as it can be, it will at least be the coolest retro boat on the river. As an example, I have a bone-stock original 64 1/2 Ford Mustang with a 260 V8 and a generator in my garage right now, can you guess where I got it? Can you guess where it is going? I could build the sh*t out of it, I choose not to.

Maybe look for a 90's 2001 model hull, they throw a great wake and look ok with a tower.

Hello to all,

I just purchased the '83 Mustang in this post.

I've had her on the water twice now. The first time the little boat ran like a scalded dog! The second ride she got towed in (kudos to my long suffering friend B).

The points were burnt and after a quick file-ing job she's running great. I've run her in the driveway with a bucket and hose and she's starting on the first crank everytime.

Here's a question for the forum (I respect your opinions, I've been lurking for awhile); is the 83 model Mustang that I have considered collectable? I bought the boat with every intention of doing the floor/stringers, installing a tower, installing a stereo, installing ballast and using her as a lake/river wake boat. I'm not into keeping ANYTHING original!

If this is a desireable model then I may reconsider. Right now I'm just trying to keep her running and planning on the floor/stringer project this winter.

Any feedback (positive or negative) is appreciated.
