I was trying to ignore that remark, but as the norm here stir it up....
All over the world there are 4 seasons.
Spring, we service the boats and ski
Summer,we service the boats and ski more
Fall, we service the boats and ski less
Winter,we service the boats and ski,waters cooling off.
Winterizeing consists of slipping a light bulb under the engine box.
Do not drain the fluids we will use it come Saturday.........
I change oil and filter at 90 days , this year total time on new engine 150+ hours.
At the rate I am going will bust 200, still have 45 days to ski, then comes the afternoon rides.......
So I ask again "what is winter"

Joe, Good luck on the project. My dad has a 1969 Chrysler Trihull with a 1972 85 horse Johnson. It still runs great; and very low maintenance.

Don't trust that transom. Any holes from the top, any loose aluminum trim, and water will get in. Those big v4s can put some serious torque on a transom. I would minimally go in with a drill bit and search for moisture or rot before I spent any effort in gelling or painting that hull.

In my youth we junked a lot of otherwise solid boats because of rotted transoms, my 76 tahiti is due for a transom now hate to cut up the orignal red sparkle gelcote but it is time the cracking has begun soon I will be diving for the motor...

The transom appears to be in decent shape. Seems sturdy when you give it a good tugging. As you can see, the floor and floatation have been removed and I'm considering removing about another foot or so. I don't think the entire floor has to be replaced. It feels solid and dry up front. The best thing about it is that there's no rush...it's just a side project/hobby. I keep the cover on it and try to keep it bone dry...a garage would be nice...Haven't done much to it lately...waiting for the cooler weather to get here.

Looks like a lot better condition than the Manta Ray I picked up in July, but sold on Sunday to help finance the Mustang I bought on Saturday.

That floor looks fairly simple compared to the inboards. You should zip through that once you have some time. How is the wood in the transom? BKH

Eric, That's the bow light! Speaking of bow lights, I've got ebay programed to tell me when bow lights come up. I've been looking for months for a friends X55 and then lately for my 54 Atom. I never knew there were so many styles! No luck yet for the X55 though. It also seems like there are people who collect them!!

I found this old outboard on blocks at a marina in NH. This boat used to be on the lake(Ossipee Lake) ever since I could remember. It originally had a Merc 65hp but around the early 70's it was repowered with an 85hp Johnson V4. The owners, who were very well known on the lake also had a '68 Mustang which was light green. At some point in the late 70's their cottage, Mustang and this outboard were all painted with this (gulp) pinkish coral color! On this outboard, the original top color was mint green. The make of this boat is "White", built by the White Canoe Co. Anyway, I spotted it a few years ago and offered 100 bucks to take it away as I want to restore it. The floor needs replacing and the process is slow. But hopefully I will get down to business and finish that up then get some seats, and get it repowered with another classic V4 from Johnson or Evinrude as I like the sound of those engines. I've always loved the look of this boat and I think it would look great at the dock next to my '70 Barracuda!
