It's a dirty job to clean-up the imagration system. WE need strong leadership from the top down the President and Congress must work together.
1)Secure the boarders of OUR country.-First-
2 Well defined LAWS that will stand-up to   lidigation.
3)Inforce THE law.
4)A well defined training program that fosters good U.S. citizenship
Thats my platform and i look forword to your vote.

Well I see it this way, not all illegal immigrant are a drain on the system. But the idea of giving the SS money because they are here illegally and have no money is insane. The SS money is stated to be running out, so why should we give it to people that never paid any into the system. Don get me wrong there are people that are legal citizens that are getting SS money that I believe shouldn't be getting it. I under stand things happen to people and they need assistance, but the idea of a person being able to say I am a drug user so I can not work. The government says oh here you have some of this SS money and keep using is stupid. The system is helping to support illegal acts. Just think how many more people will come in the country illegally knowing the U.S. is handing out free money.

Chuck
You are right something needs to be done to make the system more effective.

Looking forward 10-20 years - As baby boomers start drawing down social security funds (what's left from congress, that is), I think people will start to see the immigrants as cash cows. Maybe they will buy our old SNs so we can trade up.

Classic Character assasination politics. Several bullets taken out of perspective. Lets hear "the rest of the story" from those statements. Don't get me wrong, I am not a Hillary supporter (not liberal enough for me). Lets hear five positive bullet points from your politician of choice as opposed to just trashing the opposition.

Just to present a view from a different perspective. I know a family who lived in a very war torn Nicaragua in the 1980's, mom, dad, and 5 kidos. The two oldest were boys, just barely teenagers. The waring factions were sweeping the country rounding up boys of that age and pressing them into armed battle. The family decided to flee to keep the boys from the armies. The dad and mom left everything they owned in Nicaragua and traveled up into Mexico, they were denied the right to settle there so they continued north. They ended up swimming the Rio Grande in January, the two youngest be held in the arms of mom and dad. They came into the US illegally. They eventually made their way to California where some family lived and they applied for some sort of asylum, which was granted.

The family continues to live in the US, now legally. The youngest just became a U.S. Citizen.

Obviously every situation is different, but sometimes there are matters of life and death that will put a family into very difficult paths. Saving the life of your family will motivate you.

Now, let me prefix what I am about to say: I am in no way an expert in third world problems, but I have seen hope that the problems in those countries can be addressed. Many of you probably grasp more than I the complexities and have a better handle on how to bring about solution. The issue of immigration is going to be with us for sometime. Part of the solution is enforcing current law, part of the solution is in making new law, part of the solution is in helping underdeveloped countries like Mexico develop stronger economies. (Granted a very difficult task, but not an impossible one.) There is some promise shown from micro-loans and developing micro-economies. I have seen some of these work very effectively, providing jobs, housing, and food from the inside out in primitive living environments. Once established these families have no need to seek a new living environment. Again it is difficult to start, and comes with many obstacles, notably corruption from ruling elites that try to sabotage some of these efforts. But, check out this site:Micro-loans

Many people that live in third world countries live in deplorable situations, literally starving to death. Some, like Cubans, live in oppression and try to find freedom, often at great risk. Many foreigners are swept up by slave owners and forced into prostitution, and menial jobs whose meager salaries are turned over to their "owners."

Also, although I do not agree with breaking the law, many of the illegals in the US are a hard working people. Many are given false SS cards, they contribute money in withholding and to FICA that they will never receive back. So, not all of them "drain" our system. I understand though that many do. Many are knowingly employed by US businesses. Maybe some take jobs away from US citizens.

I just hate to see all illegals lumped together; there may be a compelling story of what is motivating them.

Chuck

My only question is what part of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS do people not understand. They are here illigally, they have no rights. I am not being mean or cruel. Well they have one right, the right to return home. We have lots of people that live here legally that can not get the same advantages that illegal immigrants get. I just wish they would learn to come here legally. Sorry for the rant.
