What a waste of a LS7, come on why put a 13K motor in something slow? I will take that for the RX7 haha.

Gary,
I kid my boss regularly (he's a good sport) because he (probably back in his 20's), in about 1973 sold his aging '66 Mustang to buy this hot new 302 equipped Mercury Comet. Woo Woo! I've kidded him so much over the years. He finally bought a '65 Stang here now in his mid 50's from a friend. Unrelated to the topic, a pretty cool thing about this Mustang is that it belonged to the brother of the artist (some may recognize) "Lee Teter" who did the "Reflections" painting of the Vietnam vet leaning on the Vietnam memorial wall. Lee had sand blasted a nice picture of two horses (Mustangs) up on their hind legs sort of sparring or whatever in the rear window (takes up the whole window pretty much). It was when Lee was much younger. We've wondered if that glass might not be worth as much or more than the collectible car some day! |

I can kind of remember how much he sold the 54 for,it was like 1500 or 1800,but your right they were a used car and the new and improved next year model was out.Who wants an old one! These guys grew up in the depression and then went thru the war and were now making some money. It's the same with my generation, a buddy of mine bought a 4 year old lime green AAR Cuda for around 2 grand, we thought he was crazy who knew?

My Dad had a 50's T-Bird back when it was not so apparent that they would become the collectible that they now are.
He jokes about thinking that when he got the same amount (selling it) that he bought it for years after he bought it, he was really making out great. Now, of course it's not funny! I think the amount was something in the $2,000 to $2,500 range! |

He sold it a few years later and bought a 56,he didn't like how small it was inside and no roll up windows.Out of those two I can remember the 56,so that is the one I wish he kept.

Well maybe they could hlep the corvette boat some more, besides restyling it. They could shove that 620+ HP ZR-1 motor in it.

Gary,
I'm guessing that car isnt around any more and I'm guessing you wish it was. Right before I started driving, my dad sold his 1969 British Racing Green, convertible GTO. That stings. |

Know just what you mean dr..Patti and I have seen it first hand. Been to Moss Pt and Passgagulla (sp?) MS 3 times since the storm thru the organization we work with...repairing homes and roofs. Totally unbelievable unless you see it first hand. Of course everyone knows about New Orleans or Boloxi but lots of small towns like these with no resources got hit as well.

I think (at least I hope) the Katrina break was a once in lifetime disaster. Hard to imagine we could see that type of devastation even if we were to see 50" in a week. Still, our infrastructure here is not set up for that type of rain, which I know hurricane states could see in any given year. To answer your question, I don't know what we'd do with 50" in a week, but it wouldn't be good. BKH |

Brian, to us down here , your right only a dress rehearsal.Hurricane Danny gave us 12" in 12hrs. w/ the same winds,100+.
Seems Nevada got 2to3 feet in their homes, sad by any account.Levees do breach here too. and when you are below or slightly above sea level that can present a major flood plane...... Katrina and Rita gave us a total of 50",what would Yall do with 50"in a week??????????? |

Thanks Pat,
Probably wouldn't even be a big storm in parts of the country, but for us, it was a big deal. About 3.5 inches of rain the first 24 hours. Not sure how much it rained yesterday. Also had winds of 50-80mph and gusts up to 100. In our town, mostly an inconvenience, some power outages, trees down, etc. However, in a small town outside Reno, a levee broke and flooded the whole town. Not so good. BKH |

Well, I just saw Bu's Corvette boat at the boat show. I didn't care for the boat based upon the photos, and having seen it in person, I like it even less. It was certainly drawing a lot of folks to take a look though. To each his own. BKH

I am not a big fan of bling over functionality, and though parts of the boat are moderately cool (LS7, racing seats...) overall I would have to give it the 'ole thumbs down.
The Shelby Donzis are really cool, but I seem to recall some controversy surrounding them when they first came out. Carroll Shelby is pretty protective of his name; I remember reading at one point that he wanted to demand a $10,000 royalty on every kit Shelby Cobra out there. |

Tim, I may be mistaken but I thought someone said mid 50's. IMHO even if it runs low 60's that's still an aweful lot of money for a boat without much purpose. I'd still take it for a spin though. |

Those fake vents on the side of the hull are ridiculous. At least malibu kept the horrid tribal graphics and forward arch tower off it. Even with the tail lights its still better lookin that the new tribal wakeboard junk malibu vommits out. I'd like to see the guy that buys a boat with tail lights, leds, and subs. I wonder if there is a cup holder that will hold his zima. That boat can be be described as the bastard child of a really hot chick that had a little too much too drink one night (corvette) and a fat useless dude (malibu).

Actually the description "Corvette" was used of a boat way before it was used of a car.
Always fun to check the dictionary -- Webster's = 1: a warship ranking in the old sailing navies next below a frigate 2: a highly maneuverable armed escort ship that is smaller than a destroyer. (F.1636). Pretty sure those didn't have tail lights either. I agree with several here anyway; the old ones look cooler, but I always thought the tail light thing was a little funny. Sort of cool, but more "funny." They (Malibu) might have done better to just do a Vette inspired boat by just mimicking the engine packages and some interior styling. I think most Vette's have a sort of boat like shape already anyway. Look at 'em! I think that was actually part of Zora's idea wasn't it? The Stingray in particular was trying to look like some aquatic thing (a Stingray). I think I've heard that the little air vents (of the older ones) behind the front wheels were supposed to look like the gills of a shark or a ray or something. Man, how picky I'm getting! To suggest that anything that is sleek, shiny red, and has 400 to 500 hp "isn't pretty cool" just seems "wrong" now that I'm actually thinking about it!?!?!?!?? |

I second that Riley. Real nice boats to slalom behind too. I'll also second that the original design Corvettes were far better than that new mess! |
