I haven't ever felt guilty about that. I just nudge mine up on a fairly deep trailer, but I've seen a few who tried to bunny hop their tow vehicle?!!? |

Damn good idea to extend the ramps while there is no water. Don't feel guilty about power loading anymore!

I still think it's an appeasement move to make us feel better about our mudhole, but there are several pro tournaments held here. As for their breakneck habits,I see evidence of their passing all the time...empty coffee cups that blew out...bent reef signs and so forth.
For the record, I don't have any issues with sharing the lake. It's the speed and near misses that I could live without. They also cut branches and small trees a few days early so they have secret places to go. Heck, I can't cut stuff on Corps property...but I can get in trouble for what they cut! |

Greg, I picked up that the bass fishermen are pushing the improved longer ramp. With the volume of water down to the point it is, it should be pretty easy to catch the bass! Like fishing out of a fish bowl! However, the smaller area of water may create some problems with their bass boats. I know how important it is to them to put a 300HP on the back end so they can beat the other guy to the fishing spot at 65-70 MPH!

BKH, looks like my disdain for wasteful spending was showing through even if it wasn't my intention. Both of these parks/boat ramps were heavily renovated in '95 for the olympics, and the proof is in our property tax totals. Our little town hosted the rowing events at the park where they built the temporary ramp extension. The park they want to spend the big bucks on already has 3 nice softball fields, pavillions, cooking areas, and a separate ramp area with tons of parking.
So yea, I really don't get it...but I did change the title of this thread to something less provocative! |

I thought the juxtapostion was clear. Nearly $1M for the government's effort; $4500 for a few volunteers to do essentially the same thing.
Just seemed a little surprising to me that the volunteers could drop 43 yards of concrete and keep the budget under 5K. Perhaps they gathered up the leftovers from local pours. From an outsider's view, it made me chuckle that the Hall County commissioner's goal was to attract more bass fishing tournaments. Same country, different worlds I suppose. BKH |

I wasn't trying to make any particular points...just 2 good articles on the lake. Our paper is famous for typos as well. The 400k(900K) project came up in another thread.

So how does one get 43 yards of concrete with a budget under $4500. I can tell you that can't be done in my neighborhood. BKH
