sorry the company I work for now does a lot of military design work and they have been under several system attackes on the mainframes lately so the systen adm's block a lot of the content, Jpeg's, banner's and bunch's of other stuff and that was the first time I've seen Paul's tag line, not that I didn't know what his boat looked liked but then there was that photo shop item that lasted a day or two or maybe two or three years forget been a long time. |

well Mark maybe you can shed some light on it, wonder if you missed the pictures too.
Tom, 64 raises a good question because the wirings a little different depending on the type of gauge used in the dash, some have Amp gauges others volt meters, so to better answer your question we need to know which your's has or if it needs/or you want to replace it with the other style. |

well not sure why it has two starter relay's usually there isn't a relay or solenoid on ford units like there are on GM's, but I believe all you have to do is by pass the exernal reg, wires and then connect the orange wire to the alternator and then to the relay.
Doc Chime in on this one Mark you've done this too haven't you? |

My old Ford was converted to a single wire alternator. It's pretty easy and as I recall, we experimented for a while with the wiring until we got the engine to start and stop and the alternator to charge the battery.
The starter on my old engine has a solenoid and with the newer model alternator, we got rid of the external fender style solenoid and relied solely on the solenoid mounted on top of the starter and the external voltage regulator was also not necessary since the new alternator has that circuitry already built into it's design. I can't remember exactly how it all works since I'm no electrical guy, but the alternator output was run to the hot side of the starter which in turn charges the battery and a smaller gauge instrument wire runs through the harness to the volt meter. |
