I redid the entire floor (and interior) in my 78 martinique. It is a lot of work, but once done, you will be very happy.
I had never done any such work before, but I was under the direction of a couple of folks that had redone numerous boat floor redo's, so I was in good hands. |

Greg, your skier must've been well cared for to still have solid stringers and nice gel. Mine is 17 years newer and possibly in worse shape?!!?
What are you going to do with the engine? Does it run now? Full rebuild? |

This weekend I should start to go back with the floor. I have to get my new exhaust hooked up and I am ready to cut the plywood for the floor. I got all of my supplies up at West Marine on Friendship Rd. Here is my thread for my skier if you haven't seen it.

He didn't stop by, and cousin Elly was busy too. I didn't realize you were in the middle of a floor project as well. Care to swap notes sometime soon? If you have materials to get, maybe we could split a larger/cheaper order? |

Greg, I missed the part where Hollywood was down here as well. That would be what I call a Ho-down! |

Great visit with Greg. Looking forward to seeing what happens next with his floor..Bonus feature of the day: seeing that big ole motor he calls the pumpkin!
No Greg...not scared...just cautious...want the new floor but don't want to get in so deep that it keeps me from getting on what's left of the lake. If anything, I'm stoked about the season! Thanks again to all who've given and may continue to offer suggestions on this project. |

Bill came by yesterday to check out the mess I'm making. He's a super nice guy and had a wink in his smile when talking about his boat. I hope the mess I have didn't scare him off?!!? LOL

Bill, you are welcome to take a look at mine as well. Mine is a 71 Skier & will be going back in with the floor starting probably this weekend (hopefully). I would be glad to take a look at yours as well & see if I could offer any suggestions.

Bill, I'm in Gainesville too. It would've been nice to be able to see under my floor before I started, so I'd be happy to have you stop by for a look see. You would at least get a good idea of what you're getting into.

I live in Gainesville and would love to get a look at your project. It's a big task, I know, but one that would give me more life out of my boat. And I really like this boat. The size, the hull, the style....it really works for the family and my ski buddies.

Hey Bill,
Where are you located? I live just North of Duluth & BuffaloBFN (Greg) lives up on Lanier. We are both in the middle of floor replacements now. You are welcome to come take a look at mine. |

Thanks Eric. Wondering if this is something I should let an expert handle. It's a wood floor with a few soft spots. But with Lanier so low, I may have plenty of time in dry dock to do it. Wonder what it would cost for a pro to do it....hmmm.

I have 1986 Martinique. I would like to replace the floorboards. Any suggestions on accomplishing this as a do-it-yourself project?
