okay so i bought a used 470 from someone who said it was new and still in the box.well he wasn't exactly honest with me and the prop itself is in somewhat new condition, but its pretty obvious that it was sent back to acme and the pitch or cup (i'm not sure which) was changed from the factory spec of .105 to .150.it says .45 was added.anyways i'm clueless as to what this will do.will i benefit from this or will it hurt the perf. and fuel consumption.boats a 98 sport with the gt-40,normally i don't fill the ballasts and i ski/wkbrd 50/50.any help or advice is as always greatly appreciated.thanks-cody

yeah really.i've got an oj on it,actually its the original prop and doesn't even have a blemish on it(just knocked on the table)not bad for being 10 yrs old.it gets out of hole quick and tops out around 45-48.infact for a 10 yr old boat,it'll embarass newer and more expensive boats.i don't know i guess i lucked up,itmust have been built on a wed.but from doing some research the 470 should perform even better.talked to several companies and the stock oj4bld just seems to be old school technology.although i do kinda feel"if it aint broke don't fix but....if i can get more performance out of it why not.anyways any other thoughts or advice?

You can’t change the wind but you can adjust your sails

Relax Cody.I don't think anyone is intentionally bashing you.Did you contact the person that you bought the prop from to ask them about it.I'd be surprised if anyone on here led you in the wrong direction 'on purpose'. Mike |

i've tried to contact him but haven't had much luck.i don't think he mislead me on purpose.infact he may not have known that the prop had been altered.i believe he said it came with the boat when he bought it ,"new" in the box.i think its going to work to my advantage though.a few people said the 470 on somewhat comparable ntqs turned 5000 rpms or so at wot.so if i'm lucky with the gt-40 wot being around 4800 the cup will hopefully work to my advantage.after the first run out i'll post up how it performs.

I have the 470 on my 95 snob. Nice prop for my boat. Not sure how the sport will run with it. Maybe post in the general questions forum for more hits. Someimes the replies can come across a bit coarse, but, this site has some great folks with a lot of knowledge. You may want to call Acme and ask them. I think I spoke with someone there about props a time or two and they were very helpful.
