just wanted to thank everyone again for all the transmissions im recieving from MIS-ALIGNMENT and all the parts i sold to guy's for a second time..and a labor charge
I am being duragatory and to date am on my 11th fix it again Sam transmission because of minor mistakes made when trying to rebuild at home or at your local trans shop, Please take out an hour of your time this weekend and check your alignment, it will save you in the long run and the boat will perform that much better |

Eric, after over 1,000 hours our velvet drive is starting to slip a bit. I know I need to check the alignment soon, but it's always felt real smooth turning the prop by hand, and no vibrations or hard prop strikes in the last 500+ hours we've owned it.
Increasingly probable to slip under the following coniditions: Cold Hard acceleration Tighter the turn at higher the speed If we can get through this season that'd be great, just put an ACME under the boat and should have the timing figured out real soon too thanks to my CCFan friends Magicman and JoeinNY. |

Hollywood, keep nursing it, its getting up in the hours and there is really nothing you can do to clear up the slippage, it sounds like the alignment is OK, but the true test is with the feeler's....you wont do any further damage by running it with the slippage, but it will get to the point of no return

Mine has 1698 hours on the clock...
No slippage as of yet, nor vibrations... But, alignment has been checked every year, so the PO states. I checked it this year, thanks to the great thread from Eric. Hope she will keep up the good work... |

I think you'll be seeing my BW-71C this winter. I must have warped plates. At idle and in neutral, when I hold the trans flange with my hand, I feel a slight pulsing.
How many scheckles do I need to save up, Eric? |

I'll put the new kid on it, fresh out of vo-ed, he hit my brothers Cadilac from the front bumper to the rear bumper last week and yesterday he was backing his car up and caught the front bumper of his car on the trailer hitch and ripped it right off.

I knew as I wrote the question that I was setting myself for some misquoteables. I even intentionally avoided the word 'shaft', to no avail... |

Actually I just planned on swinging through the parking lot and side swiping your truck. Maybe I'll come inside though to use the restroom. I won't be around until ~2:30 p.m.

Eric now that temperature has severly lowered down here my transmission started again doing the neutral turning like crazy thing again. It wasnt that severe on summer, is there anything I can add to the fluid? I'm using Allyson C4. Should I switch to Dextron III???

Speaking of thank you's, Thank you again Eric for the shaft and coupler work, finally got time today to put it back on, heated the coupler in the oven at 400 for one hour, it slid one about 90 percent of the way required just a couple of love taps to get it seated, quick check with the feeler gauges, tightened everything up, prop again spins smoothly with one finger! Time to get the fluids changed and drop it in the water!
Did you find your correct craft yet? Gary |

Luch, the allison oil might be giving you the drag, most times they want c4 in the trans for diesel applications because of the lower RPms., doing a switch over would require pulling the trans and dis-assembling because on a Borg it is close to impossible to get the oil out of the front cover cavity. the 2 oils may be compatable so if you switch dilute the old oil at op temp and pump out and repeat a couple more times. I think your drag will clear up with Dexron in it

I found that my alignment changed about .006 between checking it on the trailer to checking it floating. I re-adjusted it to be aligned as floating.
FYI - Might be a false sense of security if you only check it on the trailer. Or Eric could just take on another trainee . . . |

I got enough trainee's they like to hit cars in the parking lot, i could use some tranny's though, I had too snob lol
again on the alignment, its these things that will make the boat and running gear last 20 or so years and its nice to hear that you took out the time to do the alignment truly the correct way. a commendation goes to you Chris |

I'm still not understanding how you can do an alignment in the water. Don't you have to slide the hose up off the log?

HW, no, just take the 4 bolts that hold the coupling together off and then check at the 3,6,9,12 o'clock position, it should be .003 or less all the way around the coupling
