I have 2 questions:
My throttle control backs down when i take my hand off it. Is there an adjustment or do i buy a new one. If new one where do I get one?? Also my boat runs 180 cruising slow and around 200 going fast. Raw water pump rubber looks great. How hot should it run? |

well the return spring on the carb might be a little strong causing the throttle issue.
for the running hot I would say you have an automotive t-stat (180) when you need a 142 marine t-stat that will keep it around 160. |

Agreed. Not sure if a proper stat will help the the fact that it heats up when running hard, though. If it heats up AFTER running hard, thats normal- but it should stay coolest when youre running the most water through the engine. Id take a closer look to see if there are any blockages in the coolant paths (from a fragged impeller). If not, it could be the seal on the pump going. |

Turn all of your switches off and tell me what the gauge says. Due to poor grounding you will find that the temp meter will jump 5 deg. for each switch you have on.
As for the thermostat, a 160 tstat will keep it at 160, and 142 will keep it at 142. So use the correct 160 tstat. Tim |

that's not true, it opens at that temp but will not keep it at that temp, usually about 10-15 hotter than the rated opening temp. |

So why does the manual call out for a 160 then??

I havent read that page in the manual, but Correct Craft's recommendation is for the 143 in carb'd boats, 160 in EFI. I run the 143 and the boat stays at 160. Joel confirmed that a 160 stat in the same boat kept the temp at 180. |

RJ - My boat was running 'hot' at higher speeds. Turned out to be a loose wire connection at the sender. FYI
