          THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

OPEC sells oil for $136.00 a barrel.
OPEC nations buy U.S. grain at$7.00 bushel.

Solution: Sell grain for $136.00 a bushel.

Can't buy it? Tough!   Eat your oil!
Ought to go well with a nice thick grilled filet of camel a$$!!!

Nice headline in the news last week over here: LPG price will go up 25% in september... (due to the fact that more people over here are switching their cars and boats to LPG).
So my boating is gonna be quite a little more expensive

Last week there was a big demonstration in Brussels, in front of the European Community, by truckers and farmers, against the high fuel prices and increasing food prices.
And they predict more of these demonstrations in the next couple of months. Spanish skippers blocked several harbors, trucking businesses are having financial problems and so on... We're in for some rough times here in Europe...

That may be, Eric, but how long will that last?

Also, you are a nation! Europe is a basket filled with different sovereign countries, that all speak different languages... There is still not that much "united" over here. Just last week, the Irish and the Tchechs voted no to the "Treaty of Lisbon"... So the future of the European Community isn't all that bright...

If I were you, Kristof, I would be screaming at the government to take some of the taxes out. Not sure about Belgium, but I know a lot of those countries have huge taxes on fuel.

If anyone wants to watch a very interesting video on the oil prices:

You can rest assure that our country is one of those countries that has these huge taxes on fuel... And when the oil price goes up, the taxes go up exponentially...

But you can feel that everybody is starting to get fed up with the government (and the European government) saying they can't do anything about it... More strikes and bloccades will follow!

BTW Adam, very intresting video.

the problem with the smaller countries is they need a way to generate income for the government, if you dont have alot of natural resources or exports it hard to generate the money needed to operate the government

Yeah, but with over $3.00 of taxes built into every gallon, I would be screaming bloody murder. That would make the "gas tax holiday" very worth while! Our tax is not nearly that high, but for them, if the government really wanted to help their people, they have the power to do so right away.

Our tax on gas is .19 per gallon, so as gas goes up the taxes dont, they can shove that gas tax holiday up thier ass, its an election year.
the recourse on no funds in a government is takeover,
some fanatic told me the other day that, the US, Mexico, and Canada some day will be under 1 Government and I thought about and it wouldnt be such a bad Idea, Canada and Mexico are up there on the crude list
