Tod, As long as the nut is a brass Nylock and NOT a stainless it's fine.
I've never really seen a torque spec. on the nut. Just make sure you taper is ok. |

The nut they gave me covers the hole for the cotter pin. What should I do???
Get a castle nut? Get a shorter nylock nut? Drill another hole behind the nylock nut? |

I would use a castle nut . If you were to remove the lock nut to many times ,like for testing props ,the nylon wears out . My question is ,,how many times can you remove a nylock nut befor it is worn out ? Do you feel like taking the chance of it being worn out the last time you put it on . A castle nut is much more mind easing, in my opinion .

nylock nuts are for a one time use unless you are a CCF guy or like me, you could put a stainless washer on there and maybe the castle will line up in a different spot, i would imagine somewhere that there is a torque spec for a 3/4 10 thread, my torque is tight as you can get it by hand and no 4x4's between the prop and the hull
