I just bought a 1985 2001 Ski Nautique and need to get the straps to secure a tall Pylon. Does anyone know where you can buy them or does anyone have some they would like to sell? Thanks.

what straps are your referring to? Do you
mean the cables from the high pole to the bow harness? Do you mean the bow harness? Put another way, what brand of high pole do you have, and what parts are missing? BKH |

I'm referring to both the cables from the high pole to the bow harness and the bow harness. All that they had when I bought the boat was the pole. The pole doesn't have a brand name on it. I think they had it custom made. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Big Air Pylons (bigairpylons.com) has the lowest cost extended pylon I've seen, $285 for a complete unit. They don't advertise replacement parts, but I would think if you gave them a call, they would probably sell you the harness assembly separately.
I've seen used pylons on craigslist.com for as little as $100. If you have to piece together, you could buy the plastic coated cable almost anywhere. You can use a ratchet type tightener from a set of nylon tie down straps, you can get a caribiner from any outdoor supply stoor, and you can use a trailer guide, or shock tube for the protective tube to go over the cable. What I'm clueless about is where you'll find the webbing used for the bow harness. BKH |

The webbing for that front harness you can get at any camping/outdoor store that sells climbing and rapelling gear. It is very inexpensive and strong as all get out.
You can use a rachet strap from that harness to the pole if you'd like. You can get one rated at 10,000 lbs at your local home depot for around $11. Good luck. Remember to always run the front harness around the bow and through the bow eye/trailer eye so it doesn't slip, tighten the strap from the harness to the pole tightly, and check the bolts holding the original pylon periodically to make sure they stay tight. |
