I've got an 84 SN 2001, that I finally got running great. Now to fix the rest. What would cause a speedo to not work in the water, but when air is pushed though the pickup the speedo registers?

On the pick ups, there should be a small plug on the bottom/back. Mine were missing and i had the same problem. I went out and got two stainless steal set screws(not sure the size) and theaded those in there. Fixed it! Thats an Idea.

David,
You may have blockage from junk that has found it's way into the pulsation dampeners. These are tubes about a inch in diameter, about a foot long and mounted on the inside of the transom. I'd remove them, clean them out and then blow the pitot line out from the speedos back to the transom. Check for any leaks in both the lines and the dampeners. |
