lets wipe the slate clean and start over, the banks need to make some concessions and re-evalute loans at 3% interest across the board for everyone, allow a one year no payment on these loans to spur the economy, pay 15% on your saved money, regulate CEO commisions and bonuses and start a commitee that pays close f-in attention like the IRS at company profits and moniter thier accounting via internet, make large companies employ government employees at thier expense to baby sit and police thier accounting practices   anything else?

Eric, can you say Sarbanes-Oxley?!!? What a BS 'tape it together' job. Bernie Marcus said that the Home Depot miracle could not happen again today because of it.

the most hated things in my life are banks and credit card companies, I would be real curious if the vote was put to the people not to the people who have thier money tied up with them. im fighting with my bank as we speak, after 5 years of being with them thye want to place enforced flood insurance on me which through thier ins company is 5k a year. I have 2 identical flood determinations, one saying im in a flood plane and one saying im not. well thier determination company says from thier photos taken from above via airplane shows me in a flood plane. Im screaming with these As-holes on how can you tell from above? what if my house is on 20 ft stilts?
what it boils down too is I have to hire a surveyor at my cost to straghten this out. If I hear "we need to protect our investment" one more f-in time, I may be pushed over the edge

if you are in a flood plane it will be marked on the survey that was done when you bought the property, so if it not there your not in one. It is possible if you are close to one that a new boundry was determind if the area/land had been modified that would alter watershed but the FEDS determind all of that, insurance included, so sounds like a bunch of BS.

yeah it is, I spoke with city engineers and acording to them it might be a pencil width on the drawings showing me in the flood plane, Ive been there 12 years and this problem just arose. the topos show a base flood of 997 (100 year) and my finished floor is at 1002
i have to prove to the bank im not in a FP, at my cost, I checked into flood insurance thru my company and its 1800 plus the normal fire and comp. I'll be on the phone all morning again dealing with these a-holes. we have all kinds of problems in our neihborhood because of the lake, the state came in and said repair the dam or we will empty the lake, well, the new dam will be paid by the home owners and assessed for the cost, the initial estimate was 250k, no corp money thanks to GWB, and the estimate is at 550k, and my street is a non dedicated street and we (whoever is attached) are being assessd for the road repairs and the homeowners association for the community wont foot the bill. Luckily the comunity pool is attached and I keep telling the other fellow neighbors that im putting up a toll booth for the use of the pool......what a f-n nightmare

doesn't matter what elivation of the plat's pad is, the question is does a flood plan cross the property which is sounds like it does and if so you have to have flood insurance as they all go by the 100 year mark and if it crosses your property.

Banks use "flood certs" to determine if a property is in the flood plane or not. You're right in that if it's close, how the heck can they tell? I have a flood map program that will tell me if the property is in or out of the program. I don't see that it is as accurate as me going to the property and looking at it and then looking at the map, but even sometimes when I do that, I can't make a determination.

Sometimes part of the property is in the flood zone, but not the improvements, which is their concern. Sometimes you've got to hire a surveyor and prove your case.

We hired a surveyor and got out of our flood plane using a drop point survey. It was 300 bucks. So many people needed to have this done in my neighborhood that we got a deal with the surveyor because of it. That, along with a few trips to the county building and before we knew it we had a LOMA (letter of map amendment) showing that our structure was not in the flood plane. Lots of hoops to jump through, but overall not too bad of a process.

The bail out has crossed the Pond...
Belgian, Dutch and Luxemburg government pumped several billions into Fortis Bank. Belgium paid 4,7 billion; Holland 4 billion and Luxemburg 2,5 billion to save the bank from disaster. Dexia Bank is up next...

Shares of Fortis and Dexia went down 24% and 30% on the stockmarket, KBC "only" lost 11,5%.

Now that the rejection of the US bail out plan by Congres is all over the news here, people are starting to panic...

I guess we haven't seen the end of this crisis quite yet...

- Money doesn't make one happy, but when it rains cats and dogs, it's still better to cry in a Porsche than on a bicycle...

dont check your IRA this morning, I think its more than a crises Kris, wallstreet dropped 1.2 trillion, no money is moving.
Nancy Pelosi needs a little something in the mouth to shut her up, I dont agree with the taxpayers footing the bill, but one thing i do know is you need the cash flow to keep the economy running, even if its negative you need the money flowing, you cant stall an economy as whats happening. it will effect us in the short term and this isnt a back page news article. we are all in trouble

Eric / Kristof

Real bad here 2 banks have sunk and 1 has been forced to be taken over, and the tax payers are picking up the bill, only Ł150 billion so far, the UK is now one of the most in debt countries in the world, what a mess.

Pelosi is no leader. Talk about being unqualified for the job. Her job was to get it passed, but she couldn't restrain herself and she had to run her mouth.

what i really want to know is who winds up with all the foreclosed houses, the banks that wrote the bad loans or the government who is bailing the bad loan writers out

Don't worry about that Eric, the government's going to sell them and make "all" of our money back, you did know this was just a "loan" right?

I liked the statement McCain made about allowing those close to foreclosure to re-mortgage their homes at the reduced value.
So what is he saying, those of us that have paid or are paying our mortgages are screwed as those that are not paying are forgiven and there mortgages are just reduced 25%.
Or in other words some are paying their $200,000 mortgage on their $150,000 valued home. While those that are not paying, get to re-mortgage at $150,000 and lets just call the other $50,000 bad luck ??

Did I hear this correct ??

Do you think that the average guy that will get McCains 5k annual refund will use it for getting a better healthcare or will get a newer car or boat?

If you dont mind me chiming in, I say that putting congress in charge of the bail out is like going to see Dr Kevorkian for your cold. They made this mess by guarenting private loans to start with. Loans are private contracts and should not be alterable by the government. Next they will be adjusting the prices we paid for our correctcrafts if they dont like them. It is lack of confidence that is fueling this economy.
For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.

the average home in Cape Coral Fla 5 years ago was 250k, now you can snag the same home for 80k, I was in Cape Coral 5 years ago visiting and my friend was bragging that in 5 more years his home would be worth 500k because of the growth, he passed rest his soul, but he would roll over.

If we adjusted home rates it should be accross the board, for everyone, the ones in trouble and the ones that are not,
there still are people out there with these arm loans that can afford to make the payments but had bad credit at the time, we need the extra cash flow in the economy to bye everyday things, lets say if you had a house payment of $1500 per month and it was re-adjusted and dropped your payment to 750.00 you would have a surplus of money to save or to put back into the economy
you cant turn the other cheek on this one, the world is watching and i do agree on what both canidates talk on Foriegn policy, we need alternative fuels NOW, we cant keep fueling other countries economy's, some countries have different motives....700 billion a year goes abroad for oil and into the hands of the people that ran into the buildings...thats just oil
Cars are another topic, we need to buy them within the walls of this country and keep the money here.
I didnt just hop on the bandwagon, i follow this stuff and always have and some may say im a conspirasist, Check who owns the Federal Reserve.....not the people, but a private corporation or maybe thats a conspiracy too
