Translation from an article in our local newspaper:

"US WILL SPLIT UP INTO SIX COUNTRIES"

"A Russian scientist is certain about it: the United States will shatter due to the economic crisis and that can happen sooner than you think. They will split up because of the reigning unsatisfaction into six countries leaving only two superpowers in the world: Russia and China"

"Igor Panarin, diplomatic science professor and connected to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, makes his prediction in the Izvestia Newspaper. According to him the crisis will get worse and more citizens will loose their jobs and their savings. "These are all factors that will ring in the end of the United States".
The professor says that the dissatisfaction increases, even if it is tempered by the election of Barack Obama as the new president from whom the Americans expect miracles, but come next spring, it will be clear to them that miracles do not exist.
He sees the US fall apart into six new entities: the Pacific Coast, the Southern States, Texas, the Atalntic Coast, the Central States and the Northern States.
Alaska will in time become Russian Territory and the world will only know two mighty states: Russia and China."

I do not profess to know what the future holds but I say China is the real threat.

(2) Cyberspace espionage
(3) Using stolen U.S. technology to advance
     there military and space agenda.

Riley, no we're not, but Putin is still in charge, even if Medvedev is the "official" president of Russia. And I don't particularly trust Putin... Maybe this scenario is Russia's wet dream LOL

I'm with you on Medvedev being the puppet.

BJ, I'm with you on China. Putin seems to me "old school" Russian and thus maybe a bit more predictable. Who knows what the Chinese are going to do from one day to the next. Additionally, Eric's got it right about the money and China's got it right now.

hell they don't do that they just pony up the cash and buy it, seen it done first hand when I work for a small company that built test stands.
