ive heard older nautiques(70-80s)were good for wakeboarding because of thier weight and size of wake at slow speeds. Can anyone verify this?

the 17 footer i have been on [not sure what year] the wake is extremly steep.[too steep imo] but in 82 they started making 2001s. really nice wakeboarding wake. i have heard the barefoot boats dominiques and martiniques have a sweet wake, but havent ridden behind any of those.

Check out the "89" Nauti. in the diaries section. My Wildcat throws about a 3 ft. wake at 60 ft. But it's 19 ft., has a 40 gal. gas tank, and seats four in the back seat. No fat sacks allowed!

Thats one reason why I personnaly bought a 88' 2001 SN. It throughs a great wake a wakeboarding speeds without adding ballast. I've compared it to a 94 MC openbow and the 2001 puts it to shame. Add a 600 lb fatsac and it throughs a really good wake. Mind you it doesn't compare to the latest and greatest wakeboard boats but then I don't have that kinda money to spend on a topend Wakeboard boat. An almost 37 year old body doesn't recover too well like my 21 yr old body used too. Great boat for the money if you can find one in great shape. I personnally wouldn't trade her in on anything.

I have an 84 2001 and it throws out a huge wake. I use Phat buddies on each side of the engine and load it with 6 people.... the wake is huge and boat runs like a champ. I tried the fat seat and didnt like the weight that much.... possibly because Ididnt have a sac in the front underneath.. too much work.... But they are great solid boats...

i couldnt disagree more!! i ride behind all sort of boats and my old 88 is one of the best. more weight and it just keeps getting bigger |

We own a '64 and a '72.
They both throw wakes you can get way out of control with and at higher speeds the wake is good (small) for slalom skiing....it's what they were made to do and CC did a good job at it. Wake height can be controlled by speed and a fat sack and I've not seen a CC you can't wakeboard or slalom behind. Old or new....it's all good. |

I have 240 pounds of lead under the back seat and about 100 pounds of stereo equipment under the front deck of my 89' 2001 (diaries section) and at wakeboard speeds it creates a wall of water that is very steep, high and solid. In other words, it's an excellent wakeboard wake.

I WAS WONDERING ABOUT THESE 4 BLADE PROPS ON AN OLD MARTINQUE.THEY CLAIM THAT IT DOES ALOT BETTER FOR WAKEBOARDING AND SKING.MY 76 HAS NO FINS UNDER IT.IVE GOT SOME FINS AND IM GOING TO PUT THEM UNDER IT.WILL A FOUR BLADE PROP HELP ANY? OR IS IT A WASTE OF CASH.

I haven't tried a four blade but the comments I've seen are that the four blade is better out of the hole but you loose a little top end speed verses the three blade. The four blade creates more drag at high RPM verse the 3 blade and thats what slows down the speed a couple MPH or so. It's mainly personal choice and how you plan on using the boat. If you pull multiple wakeboarders or skier's at once then a four blade might be better choice but if you are only pulling one or two at a time then you wouldn't really see much difference. I'm sure some others that have play around with a lot of different props will have more insight.

I've heard that a four blade prop will keep your speed on the curves a little more consistent. Jeff at Correct Craft also told me that I wouldn't be happy with a four blade on my 89 Ski Nautique. It's probably one of those things that you have to experiment with on your own boat with your own skiing style.

I have a '58 atom skiier that is insane for wakeboarding . It throws up a 3 foot wall at 19mph. The boat also has an 8 foot custom tower which helps.

We put a 4 blade prop on our 86 Silver Nautique several years ago and it is smoother out of the hole and increased the torque enough to get 4 175lb+ boarders out of the water without much strain. We did loose a little of the top end, but I'm not out there to race the 200hp bass boats.
