If your boat has rails on the sides there is a rack that mounts to them. I had one on my 95 mc prostar 190 and it worked great.Wish I had kept the rack for my 83 2001.I can't remember who made it though.

How about some stretchy cargo net like in minivans and SUVs between the gunnels and floor? It might keep the boards out of the way and off the floor and seats.

Unfortunately, I can't think of any good ideas for alternate mounting sites. Without putting up a tower, a rack is going to be hard to mount successfully.

our problem with an extended pylon is that we go through canals with low bridges (especially after last year's hurricanes) and we can barely make it as it is. i really want to figure something out and i am bummed that it won't work on the windshield.

I take it back. I'm not sure it's safe down there either, but for a different reason. I'd want to be very sure that there was zero chance of the boards getting in the water on a turn or in swells/chop. You could really wreck a board that way. I wouldn't mount a rack anywhere unless I was totally sure it was really out of the way.

You could probably mount it safely down there, but I'm not sure how it's going to look... Are you just waitin on the tower because they're so expensive? You could always mount the rack on an extended pylon.

I think it would probably break the windshield. The place where the rack mounts is going to experience significant stresses from the boards and the rack and needs to be a secure location.

so this may be a dumb question, it wouldn't be my first, but can you attach wakeboard racks to the side of the windshield? we have a bimini and are (at this point) not interested in getting a tower, but need more room in the boat for other stuff (kids, dogs, etc.) and our wakeboards take up plenty of room. has anyone seen a set of wakeboard racks attached to the metal part of the windshield?
