The front two bolstered seats on my 1969 Barracuda have been reduced to a pile of sawdust. I would love to stay original and would appreciate any help on the subject.

Hard to tell by your pic's what seats you have. Can you post a picture of one?
In your diary pictures, is that last one the cut in Key Largo? |

JiminHuston reverse engineered the older wooden seats on the 60's Correct Crafts. It's in a thread somewhere, although I have a copy of the file and will email it to you if you'd like it.

The last picture on my profile is from the cut in Key Largo, we took the Barracuda and my dad's 1966 Wildcat to the keys over the summer and had a lot of fun snorkeling and scuba diving from them. Both boats ran great. I would really appreciate it if Riley could email a copy of those seats, my email is

You must have the flater bench type than the buckets then.You were real close to my parents winter place when you go thru the cut,they are on the Blackwater Sound side. Pretty HOT there in the summer.

Michael, what do you mean by "pile of sawdust"? CC switched to fiberglass buckets (from the wood framed) in mid '68, and based on the pics in your profile thats whats in your '69 (as they should be).
Im not sure whats wrong with the ones youve got, but Im sure that repairing them is your best option. There are several of us looking for the buckets themselves- they dont come up for sale very often (or ever)! H2loo's thread My thread Ive just about resorted to making a few myself from scratch. |

My seats were made with a wooden frame, same as the engine cover and the rear seat. I am not sure about the fiberglass models, but my boat is titled as a 1969 and the seats were wooden that I bought it with.
Riley, I appreciate the plans you sent me, they are different from what I had originally but should work just fine. I plan on constructing some of my own. Thanks again. |

Michael,
Did you get the wrong picture in your profile? Tims correct that the picture shows the glass buckets. On different models, the wood bench with the backs split in the middle or on the port side were still used till the end of the Cuda. Does this sound like what you have? |

Michael, Im confused- is this not your boat in the diaries? 
They look like the fiberglass buckets to me. Do your seats have aluminum brackets or do the bases sit right on the floor? More pictures of the fiberglass buckets:

The wood seats are much cooler. They look like the big buckets GM used in the 60's.

The seats in my boat must be aftermarket or home made then. They do have the aluminum brackets like the fiberglass ones above, but no outer or inner fiberglass at all. It looks like curved marine plywood, a very high ply count also, like 13 or more! They are then covered in foam and vinyl.
And yes, that is my boat in the diaries section. |

These are the "woodies" in my 66 cuda. They remind me of 64 Chevy buckets..

When I took the seats from my 66 Cuda SS to the upholstery place, the first thing the lady said was that they looked just like seats out of an early 60s Chevy Van. Told her that they could have been, Correct Craft used what ever was out in the parking lot... |
