hi all -
I have been searching for a project boat for a while now, preferably with the 2001 hull but I'm not too picky - Looking for a complete boat and a road-worthy trailer. Really would like to find something with a solid hull and good stringers. Hoping to find something in the ~$1500 range. If anyone has a line on a good project boat, I would really appreciate the heads up. Anthing in a 150 mile radius of Worcester, Massachusetts area. Have been searching the usual places like Ebay and Craigslist - but is just painful as sellers don't communicate very well or describe what they have honestly. Thanks, Andy |

Solid hull, good stringers and a road worthy trailer you'll be spending more than $1,500 bucks.
The trailer alone (if in good shape) is worth $1,000. |

Unfortunately, you are probably right - but have seen a ton of boats with lots of work done around 5K, like:
CCFan1 and CCFan2 There is also a project boat in New York CCFan3 Just figured that with nice boats like these going for 4-5k a project boat would be about half. What do you think a project boat like this would cost? |

Andy,
I don't think you are going to find a CC with good stingers, solid hull and a decent trailer for 1500. Double that and you *might* get two out of three. I'd be willing to bet that third link you provided needs more than just transmission work. The other two didn't mention that the stringers have been replaced. Solid floors don't mean good stringers. Ask me how I know Good luck. Post links of anything you find. Ryan |

Last year I paid $3,800 cash for my '85 without a trailer and that was a steal. This year while I have the motor out for upgrades I decided to tear the floor up for a look-see. The stringers are still ok but I caught them just in time. The floor seperated from the wall and caused some small stress cracks.
The point of this story is I got lucky and got a steal at 3,800. |

I've got a 1988 CC Cuddy Martinique with a junk interior. Under 300 original hours, good running engine out of boat, new carb and starter, sitting on a very good TeeNee tandem trailer that's not made for an inboard.
As is, or I'll part it out. Sam57 |

Sam thanks for the reply - The Martinique a beautiful boat, but would like to find something without a cuddy cabin.

For those of you you who do not know who Starboard123 is, he is the owner and founder of Freestyler ropes AKA FS Braiding.
Cary has built and restored numerous Ski Nautiques over the years and is well versed in the product. another little known bit of information on Cary is that in the 70's and early 80's Cary was amoung the USA's top men Trick skier's. Welcome aboard Cary! Jody |

That boat has been for sale since the fall. The price is outrageous considering its a complete project and its missing the transmission and trailer. No wonder it hasnt sold! |

Found this boat:
86 Ski Nautique Talked to the seller for a while today, seems like a good guy - a few blisters in the hull, interior is shot, has sat for three years and at minimum needs a new starter for the engine and not currently running. Several soft spots on the floor - stringer condition unknown and most likely shot. Trailer is supposed to be good - I'm going to look at tomorrow (Wed 6/10/09) and hopefully bringing it home! Trying not to get to optimistic as I've chased a lot of boats around for the last couple of months. |

I have not been to this site for some time and was surprised my user name/pw was still usable. I just finished up a long running house remodel and am ready to start a boat project. I own a 1977 Fish Nautique that is used offshore out of Matagorda Texas. It has been a great boat for me since 1985. I am wanting to find a simular scrap hull if possible to do some custom work on my own boat. I don't care if the stringers are good. I am just wanting the hull and cap basicly. Any one have any leads on one of these hull types please let me know. I will be poking around the site regulary now, good to be back.
Thanks Greg |

Bigfish - This would have fit your requirements, but it would have been quite a job to retrieve it!

Just picked up a 1987 Barefoot Nautique for $1500 in Indianapolis.
All there just torn apart. Stringers could be reused. Descent trailer. Needs a lot of work though. |
