I got it with the gauge from iBoats with the old style Teleflex temp gauge. They claim they verified the sensor was correct when I ordered it, because I was curious enough to ask if they were different. my guess is they sent the one for the 100-280 gauge instead of for my 120-240.

Teleflex gauges

Calling them this morning.

Mike,
The sender should be the same ohm range with any of their gauges. Teleflex senders
Check your wiring.
The sender wire should be tan and go directly from the gauge to the sender. The other two wires on the gauge will be a 12 volt feed and a ground (for the lamp/lighting)

I am verifying the wiring this evening. Sender wire is newer, and yellow, and from memory is direct between the two. Lamp works, as all my gauge lights now work properly.(they did not before) I have done a lot of cleaning up behind the panel.
I spoke with them and they definitely did not send me the one that Teleflex said to send with it. They sent a generic one from their warehouse. They list different senders for each of the two gauges they have available and neither of them are the one I got.
They are sending me the recommended sender today.

Installed the new sender and ran it. That was the problem after all.
The engine does run up the temp a bit and then the stat opens and drops it. I was talking with Billy and he thinks that I should just drill a 1/8" hole in the plate. I like the idea, it seems as though it is just taking longer to open the stat than it should. This could very well be why there was not thermostat in the boat when I went to replace it.   Any opinions?

I also have a small oil leak that only happens when I run the boat. I did not have one drop of oil under the engine while out of the boat sitting at operating angle for 4 months this winter. I never noticed this last year as the bilge was filthy. It is coming from the back half somewhere. I have not really dug in to look.

Other than those two small issues, I feel like I have this project finally done.

For now...

Sorry about the oil but, WooHoo!

I do remember one of the guys here posting about the weephole in the thermostat. Did you try searching weephole?

No, I have not, I really did not know of a technical term for it.
The oil is just a few drops after running for about an hour. Hopefully, I can make do with wiping it out for now, and address it next winter.

And yes, WHOO HOO.

Dock and lifts are going in Saturday. Can't wait to have the boats just sitting ready to go.

This is why we got this boat in the first place !!

Yesterday it was 98*, humid, and perfectly calm. Mrs Wakeslayer called and said she was taking her boat out for the first time by herself this year.
Barbara was always afraid of taking my bling boat out, and wanted her own. Far be it from me to tell her to not get a little old Correct Craft. (ha!) This led to us getting the Mustang in the first place. Besides being pretty grungy, it had a discharge problem all summer last year, and every time she went to take it out the battery was dead. It was extremely frustrating and discouraging for her. Disappointing for me to see that happen to her also. Then came the "project" documented in this thread. Lastly, we have had an incredibly long winter, spring, late spring, crappy spring, and a few days ago the water temp went up to what she considers comfortable to just go swimming and hang out in at 70*.
I was so happy that she could finally go out and use it how she wanted, when she wanted, middle of the day, I am at the office, hot as hell out.
So freaking happy.

Just thought I would share that little moment with all you guys that helped me get it back on the water safe and sound, and helped put a big smile on my wife's face yesterday.   Thank you all!!!

Great story and a familiar one here at the house. Amy took the BFN out by herself the other day for the first time. Of course she had to wake me up to tell me about it. LOL   All good though, her smile was well worth it!

She was all excited about how it drove, how easy it was to start and handle, and that she didn't get lost. Thanks CCFan and all who helped us get here!

And I'm supposed to thank Eric again.

I had a couple seals leaking over the summer. Into the nice pretty new white bilge...
Pulled the motor a couple weeks ago to replace the front and rear crank seals and the front trans seal. While i was at it, I decided to give the drivetrain a new paint job and clean up a couple other little things as well.

I also was able to score this gem to install on the boat over the winter. Going to pull the old ugly universal windshield and install this. I am likely getting the boat painted this winter, and this will be the cherry on top.

Mike very nice looking engine. Is that a 500cfm 2bbl holley or the smaller 350cfm. Pete will probably have a points deduction for the rocker covers though.

I stand corrected, it is only half a carb 350cfm, like Hollywood said...

On a more fun note, I took off the old windshield this weekend and set the new one on to see what it will look like.
Measured out where I want it placed and marked it. I recieved the new gasket material from TaylorMade but got enough for three boats so I won't cut that to fit until ready to install it after getting her painted.

Saturday I brought the Mustang home from the painter. I have got most hardware polished and back on the boat now. Doing the windshield tonight, and maybe starting the new aluminum rubrail. After that, the engine goes in and gets aligned.

I am going to wait to post pics until it is all back together, but it is beautiful.

I have spent the whole last week getting the Mustang back together.
As of last night I have everything done except:
*install motor box
*hook up battery
*install prop (kinda needs to be sent in)
*install bezel around fuel tank sight glass
*house call from painter to touch up stuff I found wrong
*last three feet of rub rail, the 4th piece I got is unuseable

I was going to wait and post sunny outside pics but that does not seem to be in the cards for a week or so, so here goes:

The motor is aligned to slightly better than .002. I really did not have to mess with it much as it was perfect when removed last fall and I never touched the mounts.

I love the windshield, and the aluminum rub rail (that was a bit of a battle with Mrs Wakeslayer)

I hope people like the dash, we are very happy with how it looks. I sorta liked what we had, and did not want a totally white dash.

I had acquired this bezel last year as I had the covered hole where the sight glass could have been installed. I decided to leave the spot and fill it with a stained and epoxied disk of douglas fir and an emblem I got with the shifter knob from BJ.

I will post a few more pics whe I can get her outside into some decent light. She is almost exactly the color of the CCF key floaties to give you an idea, the deck is bright white. The lighting in my shop is so artificial it is hard to see true colors.
I decided to paint the boat as it had previously had the deck painted, and had had some impact damage in a couple sports and more that was hidden. I am glad I did it, despite not being original.
Of course, now, I want a new interior. And I really need a #2 original trailer. I like the trailer we have for everything but looks. And this piece needs a trailer to round it out. It just never ends....

Here is the transom. The 4th piece of rubrail was messed up so Alan at rubrails.com is replacing that this week.

John, currently have an opening December 2012. I promise to keep your boat away from the snow and cold, she may not know how to handle it!!

Gary, Ponyboat is coming to GL, for sure!!

I did get the sight glass bezel installed yesterday. I think it looks cool. Should be totally done before the end of next weekend. Then I will proceed to stare at the lake until the ice goes. Countdown is on !!
