Eric,
What's the difference between a model 70 and 71? I looked in my B/W manual and could only see a different quantity of clutch plates. Is there a engine size difference they can handle?Steve (62wood) is worried that his 70 won't do the job in his Higgins. Certainly better than a Dearbo though!!! |

Pete, I've asked the same question. We've got a 70 and a bell housing for the 312. They were probably made before Eric's time and don't break, so he's never seen one.

some of the 70 series had a 10 spline input shaft and a older style pump, single reverse plate, forward is basically the same circuit as of later styles, different breathers, different dipsticks. as with time they evolved and truly the best trans for these boats are the current 10-17-003 and 004 models if you search for one. Riley Pleasssssseee, BTW, I do keep a couple of them around so dont worry about parts

So Eric, what about a model 70 hooked up to 327 Graymarine 180 HP? Will it handle it?
Or a 312 (Bruce's) |
