Hey everybody-newly registered member needing some advice on my 83 Ski Nautique 2001. We've gotten a price on having it re-upholstered-new carpet and a cover....yea---its in pretty bad shape- just wondering if anyone can tell me if there are specific things i should look for like.....types of vinyls...whats the best? thread, carpet- are there name brands with stuff like this? I just dont want to go into this blind.. i'd like to have some knowlegde on this so i can ask the upholsterer questions-
if you havent noticed i am a female- so please forgive the over-explaining.

Did you contact the site supporter Christine's Enterprises ? They provide quality skins for these boat. From what I read, they are very good. The weight (oz) of the carpet is important to fell and durability. You will find 16oz - 28 oz. I find that a 20+ is what I like.
Good luck and lets see some pictures.

I swear i'm no loser poser..... just lack some 'tique knowledge.........helllppp oh yea... home now- i'll take some pics.

What do the side graphics say. If it is a Barefoot it says so on the sides.

Check out the Reference section for the 83s.

Bonnie, the bottom of the hull is different on a Barefoot Nautique. It has a deeper v-hull like the martinque and for the most part the 454 was standard equipment.

now on to those pictures....

I just received my skins from Christine's they are excellent quality and workmanship.
They were great to work with, they sent swatches for me to match the old with. When I didn't care for the match they sent more till we got it dead on.
I highly recommend them, a little more expensive than local shop's but I feel the match and quality of materials is worth it.

Oh yea.....found our paperwork on the boat... Mfg. in Aug. 83.....so its actually an 84 Mod.

sorry for all the confusion... thanks for setting me straight guys.

Just because the boat does not say BareFoot on it, does not mean that you cannot.
Boat has a 454 and you can learn to BareFoot (if not already able)... name still works for me..

Barefooter: with hair Scarpa

Funny how we know these things.
But then again???

I know christines is a supporter of this site and they are good at what they do! But be prepared to pay a premium-plus for their services, they are not inexpensive!
Hobby Boats can be expensive when the hobbyist is limited on their own skill and expertise.

BF, I'd say ya'll better get a cover or you'll be doing floor and stringers.

I'm NOT commenting on the tower!

Welcome BF,
FYI, I just paid $1500.00 to have my 83SN redone. It is the deluxe style with original color schemes. The $1500.00 was just for the skins and new foam.

Bareft454,

86BFN is right, these 454 SN's are somewhat rare. I didn't know this before I picked our's up last summer, but have since found that out. Just makes them a little more unique. I also will not comment on the tower...

dwcar....was this from Christines or a local shop of yours? I was quoted much more than that for new skins only, not even foam, from Christines. It was for the same deluxe interior on an 85.

C-Bass
It was from a local shop here in Houston. They have been doing all the work for the local CC dealership for years. They did a jam up job. It is dead on with the original. I should have it in the boat in the next week and I will post pics.

The skins I got from Christine's were just the seat bottoms for the driver, rear and observer. I also have the '85 deluxe multi- stripe interior. The rest of the interior is in good shape so the match was the most critical part. None of the local shops could match the material/color to have it look right.

And I also won't comment on the tower!!

P.S. Tell the BF to get some carpet on the bunks what the HELL is he thinking!!!!!

P.S.S Nautiques are like pets some people just shouldn't own one!!!

Don't be scared off by these guys. They can be quite protective of CC's even if they don't own them! You will find that this site can offer all kinds of advice and even some entertainment from time to time.

Welcome aboard.

PS - I am surprised they asked for pictures of the boat!
