Hey guys, I have made some progress. I finished glassing in the port side stringers and started foaming them in. The starbord stringers are set in with thickened epoxy and I will start glassing them in tomorrow. The US composites foam is good stuff but is still a pain in the ass to use and shape. I hope all the other stringer projects are going well.

Joe,
I cant see your pictures for some reason! I will be going through the same thing here in the next 2 weeks. If you wouldn't mind...could I bug you with some questions sometime? I've got plenty!! I still need to put together my materials list and get my order in, Tim has helped me a little with this. If you can, email me at chris.mars@simpson.edu. |

Before you get ahead of yourself and finish up the foam, I would strongly consider fixing the bow area. I think the flimsy blower hose for the air vents is one of the major design flaws, as is the thin original bulkhead. Take the opportunity and replace them with better materials and workmanship while youre in there- dont half ass it! |

I totally agree with you. I need to finish glassing in the other stringers before I start on the bulkhead. By the time I get home from work I only have two hours or so to work so I make the most of it by doing whatever I can. I put the stringers in and the epoxy was still wet so I started foaming the other side instead of calling it quits for the night. I may reuse the bulkhead and reinforce it with more glass but I haven't figured out what to do with the air ducts yet. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

I used what was simply called reinforced flexible hose. It' about halfway between the strength of dryer hose and wet exhaust hose.
In this pic, I've already cut out the airbox, cleaned out the area, and have it back in place. |
