That looks really great. What is the name of the shop that turned it? Do you mind telling what it cost? I need to make something similar.

BJ,
I think sometimes you're in hiding thinking and doing all this great stuff and then come out of nowhere and "spring" it on us!!! Great work. But now I need to ask - I'm sure he'll make a original center cap too!!

Hey Pete,
You bet... the photo of the wheel hub at the very top has the orginal cone/pinnicle cap.
Good to hear from you!
Now back in to the cave for more hair brained ideas

Hasbeen,

You need to reproduce many sets of these Steering Wheel Hubs, and I for one would be willing to buy one.

Also, how did you restore the black Rubber or Plastic on the Steering Wheel itself? Mine is faded very bad.

I like the Red Knob, but the Blue would match my 80 SN with Blue Graphics. If you put these For Sale I would also buy one of these.

Thanks,

Donald

BJ,
Do you actually work for a living or is your mind constantly tunned into CC'S!!! Your "spare time" tunned into the CC's details is amazing! Regrettably I do have to work so my mind needs to be focussed there at least 10 % of the time, HA!! In the back of my mind, The thoughts are always on boats! One of these days. we need to meet. (even though I lean towards more original than yourself!!!!)

It would be a alot of fun. And when it is all boiled down I prefer original myself. Except in the case of Lime Green Shag Carpet.

Graham, given your skills on the upholstery.....what about vinyl wrapping the steering parts in chrome vinyl just over lap and knife on the underside shrink it around with a heat gun.

May need to sand and fill what you have first then apply.
As for the D handle I think they may well be still available new in the USA our ones here are much the same but screw holes are different settings.

Something like this Chrome Vinyl lots on eBay.

It would be good to see if it can be done as I have a bad set too
Lets have a go

Guys,

I am not speaking for BJ, but at the SJRR two or three years ago, I purchased what was his last steering wheel hub. I would think that his machine shop has the program to make more, but he told me that he was selling me that last one that he had.

I like your thinking Roger, never thought of wrapping. Ideally I would like the ones cut from aluminium as that would match the spokes of the steering wheel, although that said need to keep the cost down really.
Have been toying with the idea of coating them with silicone polyester loaded with aluminium flake/mica (company I work for manufactures some none stick type coatings) but that would never have the same effect as real metal
