I have an 81 SN and my winter project is to try to bring back the shine to my gelcoat. In the process of taking off the windshield, it really came to my attention that the black metal windshield frame is quite dull and losing its color. Any suggestions on cleaning this down and repainting it? Thanks.

Easy, Just get a cordless screwdriver and remove all the screws from the base and the whole 3 piece unit will come out. The whole thing is held together with screws and it will break down into the single bits. Just give them a respray or get them powder coated for a more durable finish. My one warning is to take photos of each piece in the completed position as it can be a bit of a tricky experience to put back together. Good luck. |
