OJ 13 X 14 RC 1" 4-Blade, worth a try.

No 3-blades in the XMP's. Have a 14 X 14 RC 1" 3-blade. The 13 X 14 4-blade has worked well too.

The 13 X 14 RC 1" 4-blade is from the FORCE line, not an XMP. It can have any amount of cup, .090 is standard. Don't be afraid of the FORCE props, they are created from CNC machined patterns and then hand crafted. Hand crafted does not mean we change the propeller in the finishing process, we are just cleaning up the casting, not changing the accuracy of the part.

What is the max RPM that prop will turn? Is it a Michigan Wheel?

I tried the 1458 and then dinged it up (dont ask)... when Acme repaired it, I had them recup it to .080, so its essentially a 1598 now.

I think the 1598 is the way to go. It gets the revs up (~300), which should improve the performance of just about every 454. If you stroked it to 502, etc, then it may be beneficial to lower the revs in order to gain speed. Our BFN breathes better than average (56mph @ 5200 RPM with the 1598) and the overall performance is great with this prop. I cant imagine youd want anything different with a stock motor- and definitely not something steeper (more cup or pitch).

Ok Tim. My 1598 is on the way to replace the 4 blade that somebody abused at GL this year (no names mentioned right Tom). Acme agreed the 1598 should work well & up my rpms that I need.

I get the blame because someone else stops the boat in 2 foot of water and says "here you drive awhile".

Thanks for the input Tim. Yeah our's is bone stock, runs very well, however max RPM with the current prop is around 4300, quite a bit less than your 5000+. According to the manual though, mid 4k's is right where the max RPM should be for the stock motor. I was mainly trying to decide which one (1458 vs. 1598) would be a better fit for our setup. We use the boat for about 80% slalom, 15% cruising, 5% other.... and I didn't know which arguement to use.

The 1458 would probably lower the RPM's a bit at any speed, maybe being a tad more fuel efficient. Don't know about top speed, and don't really care all that much about it.

The 1598 would pull out of the hole better, get into the power range of the engine a little more at slalom speeds and make it easier to maintain speed (no perfect pass . But would cruising around be less efficient with this prop?

The stock prop our BBC SN is a Fed. 13x15. I would think both of these props would definitely be light-years ahead of this (especially since our's has several nicks/dings), but I'm just trying to figure out which one to pull the trigger on.

On a stock 454, youd be crazy not to go with the 1598. It will turn ~200 RPM more than the 13x15. The 1458 would turn about 100 less. These comparisons are based on a really dinged up 13x15 Fed, but for as bad as it was, it still pushed the boat to 53.
