I have a 1978 Ski Nautique. I have rotten stringers and a rotted floor. How far do the stringers extend up into the front of the boat? Any ideas how to make the new floor go in as easily as possible? Any particular shape to cut it in or how far to stay away from the inside of the hull? Where could I find some dementions or a blueprint of the stringers? I was thinking I could just put the old stringers on top of the new ones and trace them and then cut them but they are completely rotted in some spots. Any ideas are greatly apperciated.

Jeremy,
You've got some reading to do here in the forums! There are some fantastic threads on stringer/floor replacement. Pictures and rough material requirements too! Using the search feature will take you to them but I'll get some links to them when I have some more time. I'm sure others will too. Yes the basic shape of the new can be traced from the old but then you'll need to do some scribing to the hull paying very close attention to the original height. Take plenty of measurments before you rip out the old and mark elevations on the hull for a benchmark. There are no blueprints. |
