I would still be down for one of the top ones. Whatever size, just keep it in proportion to what is in the pic.

Pete, this is a great idea, except the concept for me would be to run 36" shop light behind it in a wooden frame and back light it.. The decals on white vinyl would be opaque and wouldn't show through.. I used to make these for displaying the front panels of coke machines we used to print for clients... They come out great with simple florescent lights behind them with 'corded 110 power. Marty, If they are going to form this out of white PET or acrylic, ask that it be made translucent enough for back-lighting. Solidify on a size that would accommodate a plug and play dual florescent garage light set up from Depot etc.. The rest is up to the screen printed graphics that should account for screen set up charges and depending on the number of colors will determine the final price. In my opinion you need to just ask this poor estimator to just cost out the job based on a size and a 2-3 color graphic. The price will follow.. I'm up for one !!! Moj' |

Dave, Sorry I was thinking of lighting with the home built frames but wasn't explicit enough. The last time I was over at my sign shop was when I was picking up the X from getting the name painted on the transom I was looking at some of their jobs in process. Several were internal lighted with translucent panels and graphics. I noticed they were using vinyl and mentioned that I always though the graphics were done by silk screening. He said yes for large runs where the screen cost can be amortized. On short runs, they are now using translucent vinyl graphics. Instead of building the frame and trying to get a shop light in it, a person could also buy a 2'x4' ceiling surface mount. Change out the plastic and mount it on the wall. Wood framed are even a option. BTW, My sign guy (now in his 60's) grew up with his dad hand painting and lettering. It's been several years since he's held a brush so he did cheat using a Gerber mask on my boat. He didn't want to goof it up!!! |

Pete,
Ok, I get what you're saying... Sound cool and actually a lot easier. Flat panel, with translucent vinyl in a premade light box would be cool too !!! Dave |

OK, Guys, was told to keep it simple. The 2 x 3 was $250.I didn't like the looks of it, not proportinate.? The smaller 1 x 3 she's thinking about $100 give or take.
Yes it would be nice to get the ones that would fit perfectly in the 3 or 4 foot shop lights- but like Mojo says,I think, $$$$ Don't want to commit to anything until I get more input. So keep 'em coming in. Marty |
